Last year I made a J booking from MEL-BCN-DOH-MEL with a 1 week stopover in Qatar on the way back. Once in Qatar, I needed to fly to Saudi for business so spoke to an agent about changing my DOH-MEL flight. She said rather than me having to keep changing the date, she would make it an open ticket that was valid for 2 years. In the end I fly back to Melbourne from Saudi and left this ticket open.
I have just tried to book this DOH-MEL leg today, and I was told that the validity of the ticket was actually only for 1 year and that it was cancelled last month. He stated that the original agent had told me the incorrect information (which I don't think is true, as their covid travel policy had open tickets for up to 2 years).
I am now waiting for them to call me back, is there anything I can do from an Australian Consumer Law point of view? Or am I solely in the hands of QR now?
If it was just an economy ticket, I wouldn't worry, but it was Full Fare J
