I was also chatting to a lady who had lived there for 6 years, she told me if you have a Doha stamp in your passport you may be refused entry into Dubai for a transit break or holiday, the Qatar residents were given 14days to leave Dubai. All very confusing.

That would be due to the "disagreement" between Qatar and its neighbors which has been going on for a few months and has involved all sorts of sanctions. See the (currently) second thread in the Travel News Forum..
 
Not true, I live here now.

You are referring to Qatari citizens, they were told to get out with 14 days. Many residents of Qatar go via Oman or Kuwait for weekends in dxb and auh still.
