Re: Qatar joining Oneworld date?

I can see availability already to/from FRA/LHR/DXB/MEL

Popped up yesterday afternoon. I was checking in the morning.

Question - Lounge access.

I see that QR905 depart MEL @23:55. Is there any lounge open around that time, or do you get booted out of whatever lounge your in?

Almost like the distinction justifying the Concorde Rooms. :)

No complaint, it's just funny and "makes sense". Here is the lounge; you can access it. But, you just can't get into the terminal so you can access it. Fantastic. :D I won't gripe about it, but I am going to look forward (not really) to all the blogging and US-based pundits having a go at not being able to access it (as well as the lucky few who manage to argue their way in).

A similar example I can think of is the LH First Class Terminal in FRA. Only LH and LH Group F (as well as HON Circle flying any class on the LH Group) have access. This is instituted in Star Alliance policy as a specific exception.

These sorts of things exist all over oneworld. Look at the Finnair Spa and Sauna at HEL. Finnair Plus Platinum get in for free, no-one else (no other OWE, no fare class passengers) can get it for free, even though it's a part of the Lounge.

It's just part of the ever-changing fabric of the Frequent Flyer landscape. This makes it fun.

QR IIRC use the NZ lounge. QF website shows J lounge is open until 23:30, MH and CX lounges are both open at that time as well with their midnight departures, which you will have access to with OW status or flying J. So you may indeed have the choice of four lounges!

Don't you just love it when you get the wrong information from the Premium Desk?

But, how can you see it? When I type in "DOH" to the search engine I get nothing.

And the best one is... ?

Thanks.
I'm heading off to BUD, and don't know if i want to go through MEL, then on QR905 or Syd-Dubai, then a quick jump across to Doha. They all use QR209 on the last leg

Which is better, EK or QR in Y?

Flippantly, NZ for wine, MH for Asian fare and QF for light food, desserts and spirits. YMMV. Can't comment on CX as never visited that one.

Re: Qatar joining Oneworld date?

Same.
I also searched MEL-DXB for some dates late next month and no QR flights appeared.

It seems, to start with, DOH can only be in the "To" field not "From".

That's fairly consistent amongst all of the OW programs when flying on QR flights, unfortunately.

This is not hard to believe considering BA sponsored QR into OW, and BA have had a partnership even before the start of OW with QR.

using that logic, what about the MH earn rates on QF? Didn't QF sponsor MH into OW? It's more about competition and who they want you fly (read EK)

Re: Qatar joining Oneworld date?

But then, DXB-DOH doesn't work either. So I've got no idea what's happening.

A lot of the cities aren't available in the 'from' field including Doha. Try searching for itineraries that don't originate from DOH or the other way I check availability is to put the date I want to travel from DOH as the return leg and ignore the first leg. So for example If I want to check availability DOH-DXB, I will search for DXB-DOH-DXB and ignore the DXB-DOH leg.

It's strange how they won't allow some cities in the From field but they have definitely added more cities

As discussed in earlier threads, QF & MH were in the midst of negotiating a partnership/joint venture, and its possible the OW sponsorship was part of this, and when negotiations stalled or failed maybe it was too late to pull out the sponsorship? who knows.
Or it could be that QF just wanted domestic feed traffic off MH or even maybe they thought its safer to have MH under the OW banner then become a VA partner again or something to that effect, we'll never know really.

Re: [Confirmed] Qatar May be Invited to Join One World

Anyone have experience on what day of the week QR posts points to QFF?
