I’m booking our trip for next year and surprisingly, booking through the QBR site is the best value for a little over a week of car hire in Japan.

However the terms and conditions have me a little stumped as I’m not sure whether I’d be eligible for points. It’s says on the site

Earn Qantas Points twice on eligible car rental in Australia - 4 points for your business plus 4 points earned as a Qantas Frequent Flyer per $1 spent on Time and Kilometre charges*.
To me that reads like even if I book through the QBR site for car hire in Japan, I won’t get any points.

Anyone got any wisdom to share on this as Qantas haven’t been much help unfortunately, probably due to the peak season and whatnot.

It’d be nice to get 8 points per dollar given I’m looking to drop $650 on car hire.

Can tell which hire company it books with?

Normally, booking direct with AVIS Australia for example, you earn pts / $ for AU rentals but a flat rate ~700 pts for OS rentals.

I don’t know for sure but it could be something like that. Which is quite different to hotels.

Both Avis and Budget had good offers through the QBR portal.
