I am flying to Jo'burg in July, I also selected 5B

Travelled in 5B on QF26 last week, absolutely fantastic experience. Very private and great to have plenty of room with no-one in front or directly next to you. The storage bin on the left of the seat was a welcome bonus too.

Thanks so much Steady. If I could ask one more favour for QF 127 on 06 May SYD - HKG?

Still some award seats in Y, so not too full.

The J seat map looks like this:

The crosses are blocked seats - the seat map in my post above includes the legend in the top right

Hi GMOH

There are some really good seats but unfortunately not visible to you.

I can see:

1JK
2ABK
5EF
6EF
7E
8BD
11B
12J

The side bins are not available downstairs with the exception of 5BJ

Row 5 is a bulkhead row
Seats should be universally visible now. If this is so not sure why you cant see what I can see

Some advice please .... On 06 May SYD-HKG, all the plum seats are gone, or not available to me.

The only window seat available on QF 127 is 8K which is very close to the toilets. Is that seat affected by light and noise of the comings and goings to the loos?

Otherwise, there are only centre aisles. I have no visual on the upper deck at all. I've only previous experience with row 16 and really liked the side bin. Are they downstairs too?

Do the centre aisles get anything special?

Does row 5 aisle have lots of leg room?

If seats are unlocked closer to departure, when should I start looking?

Thanks so much for that, and some very nice seats available there, I had wanted her to go J for the first. However, after nearly 2 hours on the phone on hold (not counting to 30 mins before I was cut off). I just got off the phone to QF as my daughter declined to pay points for an upgrade to J, and has opted for Y. Neither of us have so many that we wish to 'squander' them on short flight.
