Not those two!
Those look like A333's, they should have the footrests. The netted footrests are part of the new economy seats which were installed starting in 2014. Were you in a bulkhead by chance?

No bulkhead. Those look like the seats. Of course, I might have missed the nets. I could have just forgotten about them, it’s been years since I last travelled on a wide body.

I can confirm that the A333s do indeed have the netted footrests... because that's my photo!

I find I don't use them all that much though... a little flimsy. I'm 179cm and find it more comfortable stretching out under the seat in front.

I think they are one of the most under-rated and probably under utilised features of these seats (bring 178cm myself). Stretch your feet right into the net and let the top edge support your calfs.
Yep, I agree. I slept really well on the 787 because of the foot nets (I’m 183cm and have disproportionately long legs).

The pitch on the 333 is a little too short for me, so I cannot stretch all the way out. Even so, I’m still a lot more comfortable than on the domestic 332 seats that don’t have foot rests.

I did the same round trip but the flight to DEL in Y and got upgraded to J on the way back. I nabbed the bulkhead seat 23K and had no one next to me. Food was OK and got up once every couple of hours or so.

But was a tough flight because of a lack of in flight entertainment - as long as you have that you should be fine.
Lack of in-flight entertainment? I'm doing this flight in September in J -- is there no entertainment, or do you mean it's limited?

The A330's are perfectly ok for mid-range flights. To me, the limit is at about 8 hours. For anything longer, I'd suggest thinking of JL, higher cabins, or anything that would increase the comfort.

The most uncomfy relatable flight I've had has been on an older unrefurbished A340, 12 hours of poor ergonomics. Compared to that, Y in QF 330's is very reasonable.
