QF A380 First Commercial Flight

Hardly, I'm having ~3½K SC's 'expire' at the end of next week and did not get an Air.
Interesting.... I had about $18K spend on QF last year and am surprised that this put me in the 1% band.

My understanding is that Air magazine is only sent to the top 1% of FFs, the A380 brochure was sent to all Platinums.

I'm PG and have got neither.

2460 SC's last year, surely that would be top 1%.

My spend was well over that and no Air mag.

They must have a weird way of working out top 1%, maybe it goes on lifetime sc's + current sc's + average spend:confused:

I believe the calculations are done in a similar fashion to how they work out rain delays in One day Cricket.

The "number of flights flown in F" times "number of flights in J" plus "the square root of your Lifetime SC" divided by " the number of unfaithful flights flights taken on DJ and SQ" and finally multiplied by "the number of beers you have drunk in the QP!"

It is a bit of a mystery.

There would be SG's with higher spend than me.

I also only accumulated ~1900 SC last year, by no means a lot compared to many WP's.

Hmm, so I fail with a "divide by zero" error, even though the final multiplier may be very large

And I had <$5,000 spend on Qantas last membership year and I don't think I am anywhere near the top 1% band.

I think the mailing list for the Air magazine had nothing to do with QF spend or how many SCs one has earned this year or how many lifetime SCs one has accumulated etc. If it was based on this type of criteria as a Platinum I would be at the bottom of all categories yet I received an Air magazine....

I was surprised that QF new A380's do not have a power socket to run my RESMED cpap sleep machine in First class. This machine is power switchable and is QF approved for use.
Everything else was wonderful and quiet .

Why was that? I thought most QF 388 seats have in seat power (all F, J, W and 70% Y).

I'm so lame I don't remember what I got - whether it was the brochure, mag or both. I know I got something. I spent about 20K last year. I'm not helping figure out the criteria am I :p

On a more exciting note I get my first A380 experience SYD/LHR in 3 weeks. Have requested J>F upgrade but not sure I really want it as I'm just as interested to know what the J class is like on the big beast.

If it helps - my father has been a WP ever since Ansett went bust and his company switched to QF. But he never received the Air magazine until he became a CL. He's LTG as well now, so perhaps that would mean he'd still receive it even if he was longer a CL. Don't know.

Either that or QF just randomly pick a bunch of WPs plus the CLs.

Regarding who gets Air - from the Q Media Website:

This Qantas media release (About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases - Qantas to Increase A380 Services to London and Los Angeles) states "By November [2009] Qantas will operate daily A380 services to London and Los Angeles from Sydney and will increase Melbourne-Los Angeles services from two to three A380 flights per week." However, the schedule indicates QF11 SYD-LAX as being operated by an A380 only on selected days.

Has there been a revision to the plans posted somewhere? The Qantas A380 implementation schedule doesn't offer anything.
