I'm booked on QF12 this Sunday.. My seat selection still indicates the A380. Should I be expecting communication from Qantas or will I find out my fate at check in?

I'll let you know tomorrow after I check in - so far nothing from qantas, so I expect It will be a 747 of some description...... I guess thats the end of my seat 80a
I understand VH-OJB is operating QF31 to SIN tonight, and left 3 hours late.
Not exactly the most well appointed 747 in the fleet
At least the PE seats are new!

We're booked on QF093 today 5/11 - MEL-LAX A380
Was due to depart at 11:10am, phoned the call centre at about 8pm (4/11) and just told to have my phone on and expect a call in the morning. I'm a lowly Bronze member with Sale seats, so we're literally at the bottom of the food chain.
This trip is our ten year anniversary present to ourselves, completely devastated.
any advice would be hugely appreciated. We have full travel insurance, but we have so many stops on the trip with hotels/cars - all pre paid.. At least we're not stranded away from home but in some ways would prefer to be stuck overseas than waiting it out here...
We are one A380 out of action, it is a popular aircraft with many people Booking specifically.
Given it may well be some weeks, there will be a few inconvienced by this.
Are you one of these people?
Any QF insider comment?
Cheers

If you want to get home, surely that's a better option than sitting in some bog-standard room at the LAX Hilton until QF decides they will fly you back themselves?
I'm heading for the airport in 30 minutes for an early check in and to try to find a good seat on what I presume will be a 744. No calls from QANTAS yet, so I guess it will be a little adventure. Still no online check in or seat selection for my booking.
Pity you are not higher than silver. It is also upgrade territory.
Flight update:

* QF12 and QF108 (both Los Angeles-Sydney) and QF94 (Los Angeles-Melbourne) have also been delayed by 24 hours. These flights were scheduled to depart Los Angeles on 4 November local
* QF11 (Sydney-Los Angeles) and QF31 (Sydney-London via Singapore) will operate to schedule, with B747-400 aircraft replacing A380 aircraft
* QF10 (London-Singapore) on 5 November will be operated by a B777 aircraft chartered from British Airways. A decision will be made later this morning regarding customers with onward travel to Melbourne
