QF Award booking on EK downgrade F to J - Advice please

The latter. And reading their Ts and Cs makes me think it’s actually an F return from SYD to anywhere on their network via DXB.
Just make sure it doesn't need to book into a specific booking class (aka award booking class).

Make sure ? I'd doubt it's negotiable
No, but at the same time you need to know. Rather than end up later not realising and not being able to use it properly.

A lot of these tickets from many other airlines often have this clause attached somewhere.

Voucher for an upgrade, or a full return booking in F? If the latter, that's nuts...
I had friends who received a voucher for a return flight to Rome (they were Y so it was as well) due to an issue with their booking on EK. From memory I think they were bumped but it was a few years ago so could be wrong. They did have to use the voucher within a certain period and there were some restrictions on when they could fly as there was a bit of to and fro when they came to use it - but they did go to Rome the next year.

Great outcome

PS if you need bar or restaurant recommendations in Glasgow let me know

I’m pinching myself. As I was boarding the flight to Glasgow an Emirates rep took me to one side, apologised for the change of plane and gave me a voucher for SYD-DXB-GLA return in F!!
I'll take that over QF points any day of the week. With that being said you'll want to check the expiry of the voucher and other relevant terms. I'd also be tempted to try using that voucher ASAP, first to validate that it does in fact work and second, to lock in a flight while the going is good.

Thanks but I headed straight for the ferry to Bute. Could use a recommendation for Manchester though…
If you’re into steak, Miller & Carter is fantastic.

For something different, Bundobust is a vegetarian Indian restaurant inside a craft brewery outlet. A million different beer options and the sharing menu is pretty good even for a meat eater.

Someone has made a mistake, but to your benefit. Perhaps you were denied boarding, hence the standby, but you flew as planned.

It is well known outside of the QFF world, than when EK denies boarding they not only reaccommodate, but offer a free turn flight in the same class.

A thousand congratulations.

No they flew in J class not F class... they didn't fly as planned.

That's still a downgrade and not denied boarding and EK has a separate downgrade policy.

My comment was in reference boarding that aircraft as planned stand my point that they were not denied boarding and took their flight, albeit downgraded and the OP should not have received this compensation, however am delighted that they have.

Hi VPS, Planning to be in Glasgow in June. Suggestions / recommendations welcome.
Sorry I just realised I meant Edinburgh not Glasgow where I spent a few days. If you're going to Edinburgh then let me know and I'll post a few bars and restaurants
