I called QF late this afternoon (about 1630 AWST) to make some changes to an existing OW RTW J award booking.

I only had to wait about ten minutes (<1hr is good according to QF) and the call was answered by a QF premium CSR (from New Zealand as I found out later in the conversation).

I explained what I wanted to do (change a few sectors which I had already researched online) and was then told that booking changes could not be done outside of 'normal operating hours' and I would have to call back tomorrow between 0700-1900 AEST (which is 0400-1600 AWST) to make the changes. Upon questioning this, I was advised that QF do not have the staff rostered to make booking changes at 'that time of night'.

Is this a new 'enhancement' or just complete bulls#!t? I am guessing the later...

What may also confirm the complete bullsh#it response is the QF premium CSR stated that all nine segments of the itinerary are fully married together, despite the four stopovers, and I will not be able to make any of the changes anyway. I am yet to depart so route changes are still allowed (along with date and time changes after departure).

I would say I am going to have a 'fun' day tomorrow as I need to have everything reticketed by Monday...

LOL.

I called around 2:00pm and split an award then made changes to that award.

We then changed our mind and I called back at 2:00am to change the flights back again and original booking was restored and no change fee either.

I thought I would give the new SMS system a go.

Three hours have now elapsed since I made initial contact and they have got nowhere yet.

An absolute joke of an organisation. 'One of the worst airlines in the world' possibly.....

I've been told similar before when calling during the middle of the night, although that was for a booking involving sectors on other oneworld airlines which had been changed.

Almost five hours have now elapsed and still going....

The good thing about SMS is you can send photographic proof back to debunk the QF lies when they say there is no availability.

Six and a half hours after I started the SMS chat, I have finally finished (or just given up)....

Do not fly through DOH in two directions as QR will marry both of the inbound sectors making it almost impossible to modify the whole itinerary.

It's possible some agents just see "award" and think QFF issue and refer to the QFF Service Line hours? I am not sure on that.

suggestion to a mod to modify the subject to make clear this is about QFF rather than QF revenue bookings?

So does that mean that the advice given by the CSR(that you would not be able to make changes) was actually correct because QR had married the segments?

No. Of course the CSR, and by extension QF, lied.

The requested changes to the booking were finally made later that night (an hour or so after I left the SMS chat).

The QR married segment issue was only resolved (hopefully) this morning.

AA will do booking changes via twitter DM. If there’s charges they’ll bill to the same credit card.

So easy and quick, it’s my preferred option now.

Looks like you can't do anything on Sunday either.
The IVR says 07-19 Monday to Saturday
