QF business not what it used to be?

The thing is when you're paying for a premium product you want at least the illusion that they're not penny-pinching.

ie you had to KNOW to ASK for them - they were not offered to pax. I enquired further with sources within the airline and was told this was because they never load enough for the whole cabin. Ridiculous.

Once I got them, they were actually really comfy and better to me than the old QF F (the grey and brown ones before those) ones. Quite nice surprisingly but to have to know to ask??

So yeah....,

I hate having to ask for things though. That's a shame.

QF is not the only carrier to not offer/provide PJ's on day flights. SQ does the same (in F) on day trips like MEL-SIN.

oh and some other carriers make PJ's a "secret" service.

I flew UA recently MEL-LAX.. A 15 hour flight(as we all know). PJ's were *not* offered to anyone, but I knew they had them as part of their revamped "Polaris" product(still rubbish, btw... but I digress :) ).. Anyway so I finally gave up waiting and I asked... and I was told sure and that PJ's were only provided "on request" - ie you had to KNOW to ASK for them - they were not offered to pax. So yeah....,

We got PJs in the 11am SQ flight from SYD-SIN...

Interesting. I had a 1500 or maybe 1600 SQ MEL-SIN in F, and none offered (or available when asked).

Maybe if that was a Suites flight it may have been different? I was on a 77W.

Anyway....

we got pjs middle of the day last year on SQ and they offered to make up the bed although we declined. It was suites though.

Shouldn't make a difference. IIRC they should be offered on flights over 7 hours (maybe it's 8).

Well OT really but maybe MEL is shorter than SYD-SIN *shrug* all I know is.. no go on that one flight. No biggie.. my point was more that QF is not the only one that doesn't routinely offer PJ's on day flights. I know some carriers where the rule is not on flights < 12 hours (UA is one - and that's not including the "need to know to request" factor)

MEL-SIN IS slightly shorter (but not by enough to change the policy), but your point is taken. At least QF offer PJ's on some J flights which SQ and CX do not

It's actually written on their polaris page - PJs available on request. So yeah, I knew to ask :)

WOW it's on the Polaris page. You know I looked at the menu and guff I got in flight - no mention.

Sorry but to me that's a FAIL.

(not intended as a personal response to you at all)

I *knew* that there should be PJ's so kind of knew to ask, but it seems this is the only airline I know of where it is not explicitly offered but rather explicitly you need to know to ask for it.. and being on a webpage doesn't really count. How many pax go to a product's marketing page like this to look? Why not have this noted in inflight material, like on the menu or as a note in the amenity kit or even an announcement onboard?

Just seems poor and comes across as penny pinching.

yes - agree on all points. But I guess this only affects a proportion of first-time flyers on the product. If you have flown before you'd probably know (from seeing others getting the PJs). And for those first timers, some of those would either have read trip reports, or read the product info page. And the rest (first timers who have no idea)... well... someone has to take the hit for the shortfall in PJs :)

All airlines penny pinch... QF claims to know the chinese market, yet refuses to supply slippers. A 10 cent investment to keep your business class pax happy and for the sake of a coulpe of bucks for the entire cabin, they don't want to spend the money.
