QF Cost Cutting or Inconsistency

Also speaking of entering the lounge. I gave one of my friends and his girlfriend my P1 passes to the F lounge and without even scanning the BP the MEL lounge staff just said “You’re in the wrong place. There’s no lounge passes for this lounge”. My friend had to force them to scan the BPs upon which the beeped green and showed access (QF code and flight and was linked properly too)

Now my friend is quite pushy but if it was anyone else (even his girlfriend) they would’ve accepted it and gone down to the J lounge. That was a little while ago but I wonder if the training has gotten better

I have personally found the Melbourne staff well below the friendliness level of the Sydney F lounge staff. On the 27th of December they were even downright rude when I was there with my family! Wanted to deny us access though well within the admission policies.

Sounds a little bit like my last visit :( Staff pandering to platinums and their families and as a solo in F I was shunted to a seat in the far corner of the lounge and left to fend for myself... no follow up for drinks or food. The only advantage of being in F was that a spa treatment was reserved.

I guess I get better treatment because they’ve known me before I turned 18 (and thus couldn’t access the lounge). It’s disappointing to hear that this is the case though.

Granted the service staff are downright terrible at times. Quite often I’ve asked for something (eg champers) and about 30 minutes later recieving a barely cold glass. Only in the restaurant section have I found you get proper service

Not my experience a few weeks ago but guess I'll find out again tomorrow...

What a difference a day makes? I wasn't given the same response as you when I asked about the spa before my MEL-SYD flight this afternoon...

consistently inconsistent lol :)

Had exactly the same thing happen to me when flying QF9 to PER last year-rather firmly told that spa treatments are only for international pax. However, about half an hour later another dragon came and found me sitting in the recliner by the window, was apologetic for her colleague’s refusal and duly booked me in for a spa treatment there and then!
So inconsistency is definitely the word.

Sounds like the first person discussed this with a colleague who has advised her of the correct process and then done some excellent customer service recovery.

A win-win situation if I'm correct.

But MEL_Traveller, you're such an excellent AFF contributor. If only they knew...
