QF Dom - Int separate tix. International BP available at Dom checkin?

On the flip side, for those travelling with luggage, OLCI mobile BPs are a nice to have but somewhat irrelevant since you’d need to checkin at the counter anyway and you could get all BPs then and there (assuming QF-QF).

I don’t see the point of OLCI if you are checking bags. I never do it.

We flew out a few days ago to YVR. First time since precovid I was issued an in app BP doing OLCI.

I got one in June

One step to help avoiding being bumped! Unlikely as that is as a QF WP. But we’ve seen in another thread, stranger things can happen….

I would have if I’d done OLCI on the morning of the 11th and not the night before…😁

As expected, Qantas would not let me use a mobile boarding pass. While it allowed me to check in, I still had to be processed manually by a checkin agent who issued BPs. When I queried the agent, she claimed that it was due to the destination documentation requirements, even though both Visa and customs can be done on arrival. So basically a waste of everyone’s time.

I ought to know this but can’t find anything around the Interwebs or here on AFF (although I’m sure it’s been answered many times).

I’m looking to redeem a MEL-SYD-DPS award with HLO. However, due to Qantas’ customer unfriendly but profit maximising married segment logic, they won’t offer me both flights on the same ticket. However, I can redeem two separate awards at a higher rate and greater inconvenience.

So the question is, if I redeem or even book a separate paid Qantas ticket for the MEL-SYD leg and show the domestic lounge dragons my onward SYD-DPS ticket, can/will they issue me the International boarding pass? I know Qantas need you to checkin in person to verify passport and check adherence to other destination specific requirements, and I assume Dom checkin or Lounge can perform this? The primary reason for asking is because I’ve planned for five hours transit in SYD to maximise my QF Flounge time. But if I can’t get my International BP until 3 hrs prior at SYD checkin, I’ll reduce the transit time.
I only saw your post now. I had the same issue trying to book SIN to SYD QF reward flight on a specific date. The system didn’t show any awards availability , but I could book SIN to MEL and MEL to SYD as rewards flights. I phoned the call centre and after some arm wrestling the friendly advisor was able to book it as one ticket with two segments. So keep it in mind for next time. However she did slug me with a 7,700 x2 assistance fee ( for 2 pax) to book it. I have appealed the charge as I couldn’t make the booking online and have been promised they will reverse the charge. Still waiting……

You realise this isn’t an agent’s opinion?

They have to perform the procedure dictated by the system and information fed from Timatic.

Anyone has any success with interlining from QF to BA on separate PNRs? I had to book the tickets separately to make sure I got the BA seats the day they were released. I can always try and call up and get the PNRs connected but the question raised by the OP was a timely one for me to jump in on first.
No success in May QF440/QF1/BA542 J/PE/J MEL/SYD/LHR/BLQ despite meeting the above rules - commercial ticket and advising check in staff, also went to the help desk to clarify and flat out told not possible. Onward flight departed LHR 9 hours after arrival.

A little confusion at BNE this morning obtaining the BP for the connecting QF9 from MEL-PER (technically classed as INT although of course DOM (though this distinction was sorely stretched during the worst of Covid!)) - got the physical BP but without the all important orange sticker. Fortunately the F checkin at MEL very quickly (and courteously) rectified things, and I was in the F lounge for a suitably relaxed long lunch!

I mentioned this in another thread as a similar thing happened to my partner and I going QF J - EK J on separate tickets. Rules say yes, computer says no and agent can't do anything about it. Seems like it's very hit and miss with these through checks...
