Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

I just hope this marks the end of the combined "premium lounge" concept and leads to F lounges in places like LHR as well.

I hope that they close that roof off unlike the current lounge and go away from the cold concrete and go back to a warmer quieter lounge as befitting of a First Lounge :)

My understanding from speaking with the SiN business lounge designer at the lounge opening is that the exposed ceiling was actually mandated by the airport authority for safety reasons - if I recall, it had to do with overhead sprinklers - and it certainly was not his or Qantas’ design decidon.

Unusual that the SATS and BA lounges metres away were exempted from that policy .... 🧐

This could be more a matter of each lounge's floorplan – p'haps the QF lounge's large open footprint required a longer 'throw' for sprinklers which in turn had to be higher and exposed? I don't know if this is the exact reason, not being a sprinkler / fire safety expert, but the designer told me this was one of a few aspects of the QF SIN lounge where architect design met Changi Airport reality with a thud, and Changi won.

I might have missed this but where is it going to be located?

Still in Terminal 1, but in the D Wing, rather than the C Wing.
Layouts a little different over that side as there is a food court of sorts and the Aerotel hotel and pool

Opened today according to this article.
Also has a brief mention of the new F lounge

Thanks Jase, but that announcement is regarding an extension of the existing hold-all lounge. The new "First" lounge opening later this year will be accessible by F class travellers or QF WP and above. My question was where the new lounge would be located? Cheers,

Thanks Moa. Quite a few flights recently seem to be coming into D now.

Sorry, my post wasn’t meant to be in response to yours above. Was just posting info on the J lounge as the thread entails
