QF Flight Time Change - Should I accept an interesting re-routing?

What’s the flexibility like on the existing ticket? If permitted, you could accept the SIN routing and then use it to skip lag at a later date for a cheap one-way Business class SIN trip. Or even a <24 hrs SIN trip and return to SYD for the Points Club earn. Just need to organise another flight combo to AYQ in the meantime.

Wow that’s really taking fly more pay less
Why fly direct when you can connect to the Max

What a lovely scenic journey and trumps my homeward journey after the FF event in NZ in early March
Auckland - Christchurch (6 hour layover) - Brisbane (3 hours layover) - Adelaide

PS there had been a flight change done by QF to fly to Sydney then onto Brisbane arriving at 20.35 Thus missing the last connection back to Adelaide. An overnight stay would have been icing on the cake but they did a second flight change to reinstate the original itinerary !

I hope it tickets. When I tried to accept the alternative flights offered to me it kept giving me a generic error so I don't think the alternatives offered were genuinely available.

I'm fairly certain Air Canada can't fly US pax on domestic trips via Canada. Though nothing stopping you making two separate itineraries.
That's if you believe the fairy tale that's called cabotage. The fact of the matter is, cabotage by definition cannot exist, as it existing would mean that you would be able to prove the intent of the passenger. For instance, flying Toronto to Vancouver via Denver on United could be seen as cabotage to some. But what if you are flying into Denver in the morning, having a meeting there then flying in the evening to Vancouver? By definition, this ain't cabotage. Even a short layover like 1-2 hours at an airport in the US may not be seen as cabotage since again you might be meeting a colleague at the airport before flying onwards.

Indeed, Air Canada will happily sell you such a ticket:

The intent of the passenger in respect of cabotage is irrelevant. The onus is on the airline to abide by the law, not the passenger.

If you do a search on the Air canada website for LGA to HNL you’ll get a message that Air Canada cannot sell you the ticket. The same as in your example if you plug in YYZ to YVR you don’t get any of the connecting flights you show - only non-stops or via Canadian cities. You have to manually force connections via the US using multi-city.

The US DOT has stated it will look at suspected cabotage on a case by case basis, an example of their ruling can be found at post #46 of this thread on FT: Beware Cabotage - You Could Be Denied Boarding - FlyerTalk Forums

I suspect if DL started undercutting AC on Canadian domestic sectors simply by routing via a DL hub, the canadian authorities would be quick to look at the issue of cabotage.

(edited to correct LGA-HNL)

My apologies for interrupting this thread. I have a QF classic rewards booking on BA metal LHR -DXB on the 9 July (BA107 in F). Original departure time was 12:55 but this has now changed to 12:50. I have received two emails advising of the change and asking me to accept the change or view more options. However when I go to my bookings (in either QF or BA sites) there are no options/buttons to allow me to do this.

I recall reading that if the change is minor (in this case 5 minutes) there is no need to do anything. My booking is still showing on QF and BA manage my bookings and when I search the PNR on RJ the booking also shows with the original eticket number, seat selection etc.

I did have a flight a couple of years ago where I had to accept or change through MMB but from memory the schedule change was several hours.

Should I call QF to confirm or will it be OK.

Thanks :)

I would given that it is an international partner reward.
