QF Honolulu lounge reopening?

Any ideas on when the QF Honolulu lounge might reopen? QF and JQ flying regularly to HNL.
I second this question as I've got a trip booked to HNL in late May on JQ.

It wouldn’t surprise me if that lounge didn’t reopen.
The joint AA/JL lounge is available. Admittedly it’s pretty awful.
Hopefully never is probably more accurate. The little QF dungeon was awful also.

For such a large airport, the lack of decent lounges always surprised me - I guess because it’s seen as leisure destination and less business traveller oriented? A decent combined OW lounge would make sense (if it allowed FJ and JQ in also).

When I flew on QF104 in late January (2nd last flight before they suspended the route), I got a $20 F&B voucher. Wasn't many places to use it - I used mine at Starbucks.

Although way better than the QF lounge.

But at the moment the lounge doesn't open until after QF104 departs.

If QF flying to HNL for the past weeks why is the HNL lounge not yet open?
I think their argument would be there is already a perfectly good lounge for business class and QFF travellers to use: the Japan Airlines Sakura lounge. Another thing the JAL lounge has in its favour is its long opening hours (5:30 AM to 11 PM). However, some might argue the QF Lounge @ HNL is slightly better than even the JAL lounge particularly with regards to shower facilities.

In any event, the Sakura lounge does sweet nothing for those of us travelling on JQ to HNL in Business or as a QFF Gold or above as Sakura lounge access requires travelling on a OneWorld carrier (and technically JQ isn't a OneWorld carrier).

Have you been there?

It's more of an open air office with dozens of Perspex COVID screens sitting on the desks to separate the punters.

Catering is very limited.

Plus - there are no shower facilities. At least the the Qantas lounge had them.

Last time we used the JAL/AA lounge is was really good, nice and quiet and a decent curry.
This time we’ll be on JQ so hopefully QF are open by then...

Brings back memories of the HA lounge on the big island about 8 years ago. Every single amenity in that lounge was out of order. Even the power points.

HA indeed.

Would the HNL lounge accept lounge vouchers? If not then I won't worry about whether it is open when I visit next month

I went through Honolulu three weeks ago and the Qantas lounge was closed. Pax were directed to the Delta lounge at the terminal, so unsure if they would accept lounge vouchers in that case.

Were you travelling on JQ? I ask since I've got a JQ flight out of HNL on the 28th and would like to access some lounge (any lounge) as a QF Gold!

Was on the QF104 service to Sydney. I imagine if you are a QF Gold you would be looked after if it generally entitles you to lounge access when on JQ metal.

Update: having flown back from Honolulu yesterday, as I was flying JétStar 4. After spending about an hour in the check-in queue at HNL (long queues due to doc checks and what not - I thought the DPD was supposed to solve all of this?), I finally managed to get checked in for the flight. I enquired to the agent about QF Lounge access and was told that wasn't available since the QF lounge was closed however, they have an arrangement whereby I am granted access to the Delta Airlines SkyClub lounge, and that I would need to go to the customer service desk (located beside the QF check in area) to get a pass handed to me. (I should point out parenthetically that TSA pre-check is not offered when flying JétStar, although the queue wasn't long but it did feel weird having to take off my shoes and what not in a US airport, having last done that during the Bush administration!).

Headed over to the QF Customer Service desk and was handed this:

Interestingly, the expiry date on the pass is for the end of June, which makes me wonder if QF might reopen their world renowned international business lounge at HNL in July?

For those curious of what the Delta SkyClub lounge at HNL is like, I'd say it's easily one of the best US domestic lounges I've been to (aside from perhaps the newish United Club at LAX). Good selection of food and drinks, sadly the bar was closed despite 7 AM being booze o'clock back home. Does it hold a candle up to the QF Lounge at HNL? I'll let you decide...

There didn't appear to be a shower at this particular lounge so no shower review from yours truly. However, one interesting addition is the inclusion of moisturizers as you exit the water closet:

Overall, I was satisfied with this lounge, and it certainly gives me yet another reason to go for Delta status this year (I'm status matching in July with one trip on a deep discount J fare on KLM from YYZ to GLA which will allow me to hit the qualification requirements for DL Status match).
