QF Inflight Meal Enhancement - RIP Bread Roll

Oh Dear! The bread roll was always my emergency backup when whatever slop being served as a "meal" was unpalatable.

I'd crack it open and squeeze some of the soft spread into the gap ... and wash it down with an ale ...

Me too!

Was that 'Neil Perry influenced' slop or just plain slop.
Cheers

Well, I think AFF just became the new base for where bread puns spring forth for which anyone seeking same would be wise to peruse this thread.

I would lament the loss of the bread roll, it was one of my favourite items on the tray allowing me to mop up whatever sauce was remaining in the hot meal post consumption (because I can't lick the plate clean in public).

It almost sounds like the bread roll is the whole meal. This crusty old man likes good bread and isn't looking forward to doing without.

I mean, I'm not getting any crumpet so this is the last straw. (Although this means I am definitely not responsible for any buns in the oven.)

I seem to recall Qantas removed the bread rolls from inflight meals sometime last year but then starting serving them again.

There was a bread roll on the tray on my SYD-BNE flight on Sunday.

I actually like the bread rolls but I guess to each their own.

Looks like they found them, they are the same bread rolls.

Was this a once off? Or is the humble bread roll service on QF now completely toast?

Well, up until NGCI my QF/QP card best served me as a bread roll buttering knife as the rock hard tablets of butter would regularly break the (plastic) knife. The card was a good roll cutter, gave a good spread and was easily licked clean (or wiped if you were in company).
Now I fear for the embedded chip and what butter may do to it at the check-in.

Is it my imagination, or has the ice-cream progressively got worse and worse. First it was a Nestle Drumstick, then Frosty Fruit. Now its some tiny Mango and vanilla ice?

I think the Weiss Bar (?) is nice, but size wise the ice creams have gotten smaller!!

I flew Y SYD- CNS on Thursday, back Monday, and had dinner each way.

Bread rolls with both meals - although the first needed a jackhammer to open it.

No bread roll in J either way, going PER-KGI, however, the KGI QP had both Bega and Tasty Cheese along with crackers.

FWIW, the smoked salmon "snack" was much tastier and appealing compared to the pork "lunch"!

PER-MEL last week in Y, No bread roll on standard meal. But the Kids meal has a bread roll (Lurpack butter also replaced with a Aus Made product). I stole the kids roll.

Was quite stressed about the flight, hadn't done a Qantas Per-Mel in about 12 months because I thought I was going to get a frosty Fruit.

But we all got a mini Tub of Ice cream. Made by a Brunswick (Melbourne) Company. The day was saved.

RIP the Q Bread Roll. Long live the proper Ice Cream.

Welcome to AFF mavrick9!

Those of us that like the bread roll are in the minority.

I received a bread roll and the cheese and two crackers on my DRW-PER flight in Y last week.

This would be the first time I have received both since I started this thread in May 2011.

Maybe the bread roll is still alive and kicking......

I had a bread roll on China Eastern last week. It had the remarkable ability of absorbing every water molecule in my mouth. I don't know how it did that....
