Qantas lounge access at Tokyo Narita

Hi all,

I've recently booked QF79/80 MEL-NRT-MEL for early next year. Never been to Japan before so am unfamiliar with the airports. I'm aware QF used to operate a lounge at NRT but that it has permanently closed in recent times.

The Qantas website still lists the Qantas Business Lounge at NRT as the only lounge available there (even though it is permanently closed). On the manage booking section of the QF app, where lounge access is usually displayed, no lounge is shown on the NRT-MEL ticket, contrary to the MEL-NRT ticket that lists the J Lounge in MEL.

Does anyone have any intel on whether lounge access will be available on the ground in NRT? Perhaps QF is still sorting it out ahead of the official launch of the NRT route (currently QF79/80 are MEL-HND-MEL before swapping to NRT) - although that's likely to be wishful thinking.

In any case, I will report back once I take the trip.

Many thanks

The space that used to be the QF NRT lounge was taken over by one of the pay in lounges.

It looks like the AA lounge also closed at some point.

CX and JL both have lounges at NRT that you'll be able to use.

Does EK have a lounge there?

@jase05 In 2019 I when on a wander through NRT to look at other lounges, seem to recall they do but it was in a odd place and not the asist to find. If you are fling shortly it may be worth checking to see if has reopened.

According to the OW website, no mention of an AA lounge (although still shown on the map).

Apparently CX closes at 6pm? So might not be in play but the JL lounges are open until 10pm.

If I remember the location of the AA lounge correctly, it is now an China Airways Dynasty Lounge.
The old QF lounge is now an Aspire Lounge. (5500JPY)

There is an EK lounge at NRT, the entry is near the north passport control. The EK site says it has very limited hours.

I have read on other sites the AA lounge has gone, I did visit it on a couple of occasions (solo lounge crawl) pre Covid and by AA standards it was quite good.
It also does indicate that it is permanently closed
It was not that flash and only used to go there if there were delays and the JL lounges were closing.

I'd only gone in the NRT AA lounge once, maybe 7 years ago. At the time, the NRT lounge was considered to be the best AA lounge globally. Of course that was before they refurbished their US hub lounges. It was good in the mornings during the peak departures when the JL lounges were at capacity (including their overflow lounge).

There is a JL F lounge and 3 J lounges at NRT. One of the J lounges is in the domestic area, another is only open for the peak departure period. The F lounge and remaining J lounge are open all day until NRT closes for the night.

Keeping an eye on this thread. Got MEL-NRT in Jan. While lots has been said that there will be no issues with JL lounges I still look forward to the confirmation.

There's no problems with JL lounges as long as you're eligible. I haven't gone through the NRT recently except once on JQ (thus no access) but HND has no trouble accepting me at the JL lounges.

Just asking are you interested in the lounge MEL-NRT or JL lounge access onwards and/or back to AU. I am pretty sure JL contracts to the Marhaba Lounge. If you have OW status you will be able to use the QF lounge F or J lounge if on a OW flight.

The lounge for NRT back to MEL. No status, just a plain-labelled Qantas Club member.

You won't get into the JL lounges with your Qantas Club membership. Without Oneworld status, you'll need to be flying in Business to get in.
Thanks for the clarification. So no NRT lounge options then for Qantas Club since it’s closure?

Qantas Club has access to JL lounge at NRT and HND on QF flights.
