This is great news indeed. But there appears to be a few bugs in the award booking engine for QFi unfortunately. QFd is a piece of cake though and works a treat.

The best part about this is avoiding the AA BNE (Fiji) 'booking' fee! :)

Tried PER-AKL, seems to force a routing through BNE. Haven't bothered looking but a multi-city might fix that.

Brilliant if a little buggy.
Now, CX availability, please

Actually I'll amend that.

Looking for SYD-LHR late May and AA offers only a couple of routes via BKK and NRT with overnight connections.
QF's web site shows classic awards on the more direct routes with straightforward connections in SIN and HKG, all still QF & BA

Some way to go to be really, really useful

There's now an easy comparison of taxes/charges on each airline. DFW-SYD on QFF attracts charges of $US 385.15 but lucky AAdvantage members only have to pay $US 28.40 for the same flight. A real eye-opener (but watch out for the burnt stick).

Great News, only 37,500 miles for QF12 and only 26 dollars tax, QF go suck eggs with your 48,000 miles and who knows what taxes and surcharges!
How about this one, 45,000 AA miles Port Macquarie to LED (St Petersburg) and $196 taxes - QF 84,000 miles and $586 taxes - go figure this one out!

So in people's past experience, if it can be seen as an available classic award on the QFF website, can it be booked through AA? Ie is the AA online system only showing some of what can actually be booked?

Searching multi-city will find you the flights you can see on Qantas, but unfortunately it charges you as two separate legs - 17,500pts x 2 :-( At least going through Brisbane only adds on another 1.5-2 hours, so not all bad.

As long as it's within the 330 day maximum permitted by AA. It's also worth looking on Awardnexus for some multi-city possibilities that don't show up on QFF (e.g. JL)

If you start the booking online (put it on hold) and then ring up to make changes (to get around it charging legs separately).... I wonder if you still pay the booking fee...??

Able to book QF10 TXL-LHR-MEL in F for late January - very painless.

At the date of this post:

Of the AAdvantage Airline partners, I've been able to see the following airlines online in AAdvantage Awards:

Alaska Airlines
American Airlines
Air Berlin
British Airways
Finnair
QANTAS

That leaves the following as offline:

Cathay Pacific
Iberia
JAL
LAN
Royal Jordanian
S7

Plus all the other non Oneworld partners:

Air Pacific
Air Tahiti Nui
Cape Air
El Al
Etihad Airways
Hawaiian Airlines
Jet Airways
JetBlue
Kingfisher Airlines
WestJet

Can anyone suggest otherwise?

Actually, HA has been available for at least a few months, but you can only build an AAward ticket that starts from one of HA's gateways (so SYD-HNL-LAX can be ticketed as a single award, but CBR-BNE-HNL requires two).

Yes you can.Simply put CBR-HNL and up it comes though the BNE option below was the last choice in 4 pages.hint-do not use multi city as then it wont come up as a single award-

I know BNE is a little behind time (no daylight savings), but that is one mighty tight connection

The first flight was actually on 14/2 so more a case of being bored for a day.

I've been having a play around with both the AA and QF websites in preparation for booking a trip to the US for Nov/Dec next year. I am finding that the availability seems to be at least as good if not greater on the AA website. The example I looked at was Oct 2013 SYD-JFK in J x2. QF showing CX availabilty via HKG and those weird mixtures of Y/J via LAX for 256K plus $900 tax for two. AA showing SYD-MEL-LAX-JFK for 125K plus $256 tax. Time to juice up the multiple AA accounts with the current bonus I think ;)
OT I detest the QF multi-city booking engine it is a total basket case!
