The thread title is "QF online check in..."
Umm yes it is, perhaps you didn't noticed that the thread had moved off on a tangent. I was giving an explanation as to why some one would use a print to PDF method, which is applicable to all airlines, rather than the save pdf method which is only relevant to QF (AFAIK).

so thanks for the help with my reading, but it's not really needed. :p

You can use OLCI and then print your own boarding pass at the airport using the self-check-in kiosk. Then take the freshly printed BP to the OLCI Bag Drop queue to deposit your bags. There is often an agent manning this queue - just explain you did OLCI and just printed the BP at the kiosk due to no printer available at home/hotel etc. Always worked for me.
A simple method would be to bypass the Quickcheck kiosk.

Use OLCI, goto Bag drop queue, hand over QFF card, tell them how many bags to check-in, destination and could they please print a boarding pass? Works all the time.

I have to agree that I was wondering what the hangup was/is as that is what I do when needed.

Bag Drop??? Queue???

For domestic travel, normally my first BP based communication with an Airline agent is when actually board (or, perhaps, upon entering a Domestic J lounge).

Yes there are people lined up in the bag drop queue occasionally. Sometimes not. I go to the queue with the least number of people.

I can do the same but I need to have a special boarding pass printed on cardboard. :p And I also have checked luggage on each trip for my weekly commute. ;)
