QF or DJ?

I misread your quote 777 and thought you said you left it off 'for' a reason ;) [so I assumed you didn't like it. My mistake, I take it back].

For me personally I would stick with Qantas as I do not believe I can, do not want to, maintain status in both programs.

Don't get me wrong I have given Virgin more of my business but only where the airfares are marginal or slightly in favour of Qantas.

- For me the airfares are still in favour of Qantas most of the time. I travel SYD-BNE on a Sunday afternoon/evening and BNE-SYD on a Friday evening. Virgin is OK for Sunday morning and Friday morning but that is totally unsuitable and I am not the type to get up early Monday morning to fly SYD-BNE and then put in a full days work.
- There have been good improvements with the Velocity program but still a long way to go to match QFF. Redempt
- Qantas has better international partners and part of an alliance
- Qantas has better domestic schedules
- Qantas has better aircraft type on domestic routes (I prefer wide bodies)
- Qantas domestic cabin crew are slightly more professional
- I like that airfares are all inclusive

Some of the factors I do not care about so do not factor in my decision

- Complimentary upgrades are useless to me as I do not purchase flexible airfares
- Don't care about pripority boarding as my goal is to be the last passenger onto the aircraft. In fact with my obsessive compulsive disorder I actually have anxiety if I am not the last to board

And anytime access to lounges is great but that is not the sole reason to maitain status in a FF program.

More opportunities to earn points with non airline partners.

I recently status matched on Virgin, and although I'll still be using Qantas for the majority of my flights, I'm puzzled about why you'd say that - seems to me from having explored the virgin points earning opportunities quite thoroughly that it's much of a muchness, with some better shopping options (at least for me) including ebay earning Virgin points.
