QF Preliminary Results FY17/18

Echo others' thoughts here re disappointment with no improvements for SIN - a FLounge is needed there even more than LAX given that (for most pax) this is a transit point rather than a destination. Zero incentive for PER based WPs to fly QF metal to EU, rather than persisting with the EK codeshares.

SIN won't happen if they cannot get more space, and honestly I don't think QF sees SIN as an issue.

SYD J INT lounge has been a sad joke for a long time, very happy to see something being done about it, along with the F lounge expansion which has also become a joke during peak mornings with several lines forming to simply get a seat!

DSC offer -> Creates more Platinums -> Need more lounge space -> Expand the F lounge -> How do we pay for that? -> Ah! DSC offer

Agree SIN definitely needs something doing, perhaps work with BA and combine spaces and make it a one word first and business lounge. How many BA flights a day to SIN

Whilst SYD J is not the best it is significantly better than the MEL J Lounge which needs a complete shift and upgrade.

I doubt any thing will be opened up in terms of rewards especially given that they expect an extra $400 million on the fuel bill next financial year which means that they will be looking for even more savings across the businesses. We may even see more increases in FF points and co payments as the fuel impact comes reality over the next 12 months.
My info suggests an even larger fuel bill increase of around $690 million, to a total $3.92 billion - about a 20% rise. So yes, it’ll be interesting to see where the efficiencies land...

Agree with that. Not sure it can shift - not much other space, and the new MEL proposals don't seem to change that.

But it definitely needs brightening and a redesign. Possibly some fake windows broadcasting the view from outside.

QFF riff raff in Tony Hancock's and myself's Concorde bar! You're dreaming.o_O:eek::D;)

I find it strange they're prioritising this over Singapore.

Who says they are prioritising it over Singapore? Maybe there is not much they can do about the situation in Singapore. Cannot just make space out of nothing, even if things are not ideal at present, for a short period of time each day.

Agreed but you have to love the chicken littles that reside on here that immediately assume Singapore has been forgotten. They are clearly aware of the problem but all these refurbs announced are simple as pie compared to the Singapore solution which I’m sure is being worked on.

Yep, should have fixed SIN and MEL int - both of them - first. Cheers skip

If that was the case, surely they would have announced it? We know the've announced other refurbs years before they happen, in the past.

Working on something and having a practical and implementable solution are two completely different things.

And I ask the question again, what exactly is the solution in Singapore.

Clearly it needs more space, but where exactly are they getting it from, and how do they do it without needing to write off the cost of the last refurb. Read by keeping most of the current lounge intact.

Make it the J Lounge and make the BA Lounge the first and Concorde lounge and combine it all in to one

Reckon BA would be up for that? I wouldn't think so unless they get into bed again.

Didnt say it would happen just a solution that could work

Cost we'll be almost everything. A combined lounge would be cheaper, you'd think and there would be a more critical mass- like number of F pax to justify a F lounge or at least a F pax priority area.

It might be like LAX where Qantas manages a OW lounge, or they could even cobrand it. They don't have to love each other to save money on lounges.

Could work if BA were interested. Which I don't think they are.

Qantas could also expand the airport to make room, but clearly that isn't gonna happen either.

How many BA flights a day to SIN
BA have 3 flights from SIN, 1 to SYD, 2 to LHR.

As has been mentioned every time the SIN lounge comes up, there is no real space to expand the QF lounge into. The only space around the existing lounge is the TG lounge in front and airport offices down the corridor, backing onto the QF lounge by the showers.
