Given that there are three rows of 8 people (total 24) vs. 62 in F/J - is this lane going to be the fastest moving?
Just for the record, there are 32 seats in Y+

or 40 on the config they later have planned for Pacific flights using 744. The 32 is for the initial config on the LHR, JNB routes.

Hmm - I know this is petty but wouldnt pushing Y+ pax through the elite lane in effect devalue the product to the J/F pax as the queue to get through will increase? It's not a big deal and I rarely have more than 2-3 people in front of me at boarding but it does seem a little cheeky heralding this new benefit for some pax at the "expense" of others..

Why? It isn't called Premium economy for nothing.

OW Emeralds get to use the elite lane anyway so that really degrades the J/F product even further. Maybe they should also let Sapphires use the elite lane and I think Rubys are nice people and do enough flying to get some elite benefits. Is there a race to see who gets out of the airport first?

The best solution would be to get rid of all lower classes from aircraft and only offer J/F and then true 'premium' travellers can really feel important. Don't be too alarmed though if scheduled services are altered to once a week to compensate for less revenue....

Hmmm. So they do. Extend the benefit to all Rubys as well then.

Hmm - how to respond to yet another anti-J/F pax post. One option would be to ignore it.

I don't think letting another max of 32-40 pax to use the elite lane will be much of a problem. Most of the time when I arrive at the gate the elite lane will be rather empty as I wait for the lounge boarding call (no more than 2-3 people usually). And out of the 32-40 Y+ pax I don't think every single one of them will have lounge access and will be boarding very quickly anyway after the initial boarding call at the gate, thus clearing the way for those coming from the lounge. So in conclusion I think the impact on priority boarding for OWS/OWE and J/F pax will be minimal, if any.

JohnK,

You're a cynic :!:

Simon that assumption is not even close to the mark. It was not yet another anti-J/F passengers post.

It was a light humoured post aimed at J/F passengers who think they are better than everyone else. I think you know the syndrome....

An interesting scenario

MEL-LON [RETURN]
DISC ECON is $2572 in June 2008 per person

DISC PREM ECON is $5742 same time.

If a couple purchase 2 DE seats each, it is cheaper, they have double space , in middle 4 across. One can even lie down across 3 seats.

And its even cheaper since the airlines only chage you the seat, you avoid some of the taxes IIRC, was discussed in a thread on how some airlines deal with larger people in the US.

I'm guessing you would also be entitled to 2 x points and 2 x SC's?

You only earn per flight segment, not per seat. I don't know of anyone whose gotten double points for flying with two seats.

If I remember correctly someone on AFF reported that they booked 2 seats on a flight and got double the SCs and FF points.

Yes, I vaguely recollect that too - perhaps I'm being a bit too lazy to search this afternoon.
