Rather than this get lost in the main thread, here is the info from Airline route with regard the timing on the announced changes this week:

As per 19AUG11 GDS timetable display, QANTAS has closed reservation for following routes for travel on/after 25MAR12, followed by the airline’s announcement of route restructuring on Tuesday 16AUG11.
Routes that has seen reservation closure are:

Bangkok – London Heathrow
Hong Kong – London Heathrow
Sydney – Buenos Aires

and

British Airways S12 Initial Changes to Asia / Australia as of 19AUG11

As per 19AUG11 GDS timetable display, British Airways has loaded Summer 2012 operational changes for service to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney.
The adjustment is made followed by QANTAS’ announcement of its network restructuring, reported on 15AUG11. BA and QANTAS currently has joint-venture agreement on Kangaroo route.
Details effective 25MAR12:

London Heathrow – Bangkok
BA009 LHR2200 – 1515+1BKK 744 D
BA010 BKK0020 – 0630LHR 744 D
BA Bangkok – Sydney sector cancelled. LHR BKK sector schedule remains pending for the moment.
BA codeshare on QANTAS BKK SYD service is now closed as QF system also closed the reservation on this sector
London Heathrow – Hong Kong Increase from 14 to 17 weekly, new flights with 777-200
BA031 LHR1200 – 0655+1HKG 777 357
BA025 LHR1840 – 1315+1HKG 744 D
BA027 LHR2200 – 1650+1HKG 77W D
BA032 HKG0900 – 1500LHR 777 146
BA026 HKG2315 – 0455+1LHR 744 D
BA028 HKG2345 – 0540+1LHR 77W D
QANTAS has closed HKG LHR sector reservation. BA only has codeshare traffic rights on LHR MEL, which is also closed.
London Heathrow – Singapore – Sydney Boeing 747-400 replace 777-200ER (LHR SIN existing Daily 747 service BA011/012 remains unchanged for the moment)
BA015 LHR2115 – 1655+1SIN1945+1 – 0515+2SYD 744
BA016 SYD1530 – 2145SIN2310 – 0520+1LHR 744

HKG-LHR doesnt match well with MEL-HKG (QF29) as per that timetable.

Mind you, timings on QF will almost certainly change.

Do I read it right that BA is no longer flying BKK-SYD, meaning they now only have a single flight to Aus, which will revert to at 747 instead of 777?

Yes, that was part of the AJs little chat earlier in the week.

Interesting indeed, would have thought the times would change though, especially for QF1 which arrives at around 11pm with QF2 departing the next day at 5pm.

Qantas making flight changes between Australia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, London,

So, what is going on? Does anyone have any information as to what the flight changes are?
Seems there are progressive changes happening from Monday August 22 2011

These changes include travel between Australia to Bangkok, Hong Kong, London, Buenos Aires.
These routes alter considerably after March 24 2012. If you have booked there will be a need to alter flight plans.

Oh Qantas what is happening???

Re: Qantas making flight changes between Australia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, London,

You seriously haven't heard? Qantas are no longer flying to London via Bangkok or Hong Kong and are flying to Santiago instead of Buenos Aires.

Re: Qantas making flight changes between Australia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, London,

I am a Qantas Silver FF my wife a Gold and we have confirmed Bus Class using FF points from Sydney to Frankfurt via Singapore in May next year and confirmed First Class using FF points from London to Sydney in July. I have received an email from Qantas saying they will advise in coming weeks how we can rebook. Considering the trouble we had booking these, points seats are always difficult to get, can they take them away from us and make us compete for more FF points tickets? Which would be almost certainly impossible to replace at shorter notice!!
cheers

Re: Qantas making flight changes between Australia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, London,

Ouch!
No I haven't heard either. Can somebody point me in the right direction to find out more?

Try here:

About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases

Under the restructured JSA, from early 2012 Qantas will fly Australia-Bangkok and Australia-Hong Kong, while British Airways will operate Bangkok-London and Hong Kong-London, maximising the airlines’ respective network strengths. British Airways will increase the frequency of London-Hong Kong services from 14 per week to 17 per week.

Re: Qantas making flight changes between Australia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, London,

Thanks! Seems like this increases the chance of my luggage going missing between BKK-LHR. . . . . .
But also good to know QF flying the SYD-BKK vv route. (Just makes getting seats a little more difficult during peak season.)

Looks like the PER-HKG-LHR connection will then work only 2x weekly. exPER Wed Fri connecting Thu Sat

Sure hope CX Y+ fares are reasonable and CX fixes the economy seats on the regional A330s.

Hey QF - how about some reasonable way to mix fare classes. But then it has been cheaper to get the fares in SIN or HKG anyway.

Yeah, I got one too - a booking via EZE after March 2012. Actually I am very happy - would far prefer SCL to be the Qantas gateway to South America. Argentina may have good wine and great steaks, but their airport, and the connections, truly suck. I feared that Qantas would can the whole South America thing, and just codeshare with LAN, but apparently they will start with three flights a week SYD-SCL. LAN has held a monopoly on the trans-pacific route for decades - I am amazed that Qantas has gained flying rights direct to SCL. (not that I know much about how that works!) But it would mean that the LAN hub in SCL gets great feed. All good as far as I am concerned! :)

You won't have to compete with anyone else. QF will transfer you to another service, if yours will no longer run. There shouldn't be any change to the SYD-SIN-FRA flight, though. Is your return scheduled via BKK? If so, they'll either reroute you via SIN or put you on BA to BKK.

SYD-SIN-LHR also changing

Just noticed that my QF32 flight next year has been cancelled.

Checked the QF timetable, and on March 25th 2012 QF31/32 stop flying. QF31 is replaced with QF1 departing approximately the same time. QF32 is replaced with QF2 departing at 8pm from Singapore (and correspondingly later time from LHR). So, there is no daytime OW flight between SIN and SYD anymore.

The new QF1/2, goodbye QF31/32

So long BKK... hello SIN... just checked a booking in May next year to do seat selection, and welcome to the new QF1:

[Amadeus Operational Info: QF 1/31 May 2012]
QANTAS AIRWAYS - QF 1
[Planned Flight Info]
SYD-SIN 16:10/Thu - 22:30/Thu 08:20
SIN-LHR 23:59/Thu - 06:35/Fri 13:36

QANTAS AIRWAYS - QF 2
[Planned Flight Info]
LHR-SIN 22:30/Thu - 18:30/Fri 13:00
SIN-SYD 20:00/Fri - 05:40/Sat 07:40

QF31/32 have also disappeared - one presumes this is the same flight which will now be operating under the 'flagship' route numbers.

I was booked on 31, but magically am now on 1.

Have we got the BKK flight numbers then?

Edit: Currrent schedule routing via SIN (CX or 3K to connect). Or JQ via MEL.

New Bangkok schedule

QF23 SYD-BKK DEP: 1335 1855

This BKK flights connects poorly with BA so imagine they will change their flight to connect better with QF

Hmmm, interesting times there. That arrival time into SYD is rather awful for connections to other capital cities! I used to use QF81 to avoid clearing customs in SYD and riding the Thomas Train between terminals. Looks like that's gone south on me unless QF81 changes times too.:(
