Hmmm, interesting times there. That arrival time into SYD is rather awful for connections to other capital cities! I used to use QF81 to avoid clearing customs in SYD and riding the Thomas Train between terminals. Looks like that's gone south on me unless QF81 changes times too.:(

Which cities would they be? I kinda thought at around midday Qantas had more or less hourly flights to all the other capitals, though at that time Canberra will be a Dash-8..

F & PE have been pulled from sale for MEL-HKG

New Hong Kong schedule

QF127 SYD-HKG 1045 1750 / DAILY 744
QF128 HKG-SYD 1955 0655+1 / DAILY 744
QF087 SYD-HKG 1425 2200 / DAY 1+7 333 / DAY 3+5 332
QF088 HKG-SYD 2330 1045 + 1 / DAY 1+7 333 / DAY 3+5 332

New Bangkok schedule

QF23 SYD-BKK DEP: 1335 1855
QF24 BKK-SYD DEP: 2055 1000 + 1

This BKK flights connects poorly with BA so imagine they will change their flight to connect better with QF

QF29/30unchanged for now it seems (MEL-HKG). It's not all about sydney ....oh, wait this is Qantas.

How is 10am a bad arrival time (except for intl connection)

Yep, I used to like catching QF81 to ADL - saved me having to clear customs in SYD and changing terminals. Such a hassle, when you can clear ADL in about 10mins and have your bags and catch a cab about 10mins after that.

Edit: After having a bit of a play around, I can circumvent the SYD sector by travelling BKK-SIN-ADL with CX and QF (or PG if I wanted to) taking QF 82 SIN-ADL.
However every route back in May/June or July is not at all direct:
  • ADL-MEL-SYD-BKK
  • ADL-BNE-SYD_BKK
  • ADL-CBR-SYD-BKK
  • ADL-PER-SIN-BKK
Olympics maybe?

And is PG under consideration for OW affiliation? Seems *very* odd they are suddenly on the list, but no J* Asia. (And any mention of J* MEL-BKK has also disappeared, not that I'm disappointed about that!)

This can only be fantastic news for those wanting to go to BKK! :D

Now if only QF revised SIN arrival times from Australian East Coast to allow for overnight connections into Asia.

BA has just changed my June 2012 booking from BA10/BA9 to BA16/BA15.

Should I charge them a $150 change fee, or perhaps a $500 cancellation fee?:p

No word from QF on my April 2012 flight to LHR via HKG yet.

BA LHR-BKK-LHR flights are dictated by the LHR curfew (Can't leave LHR much later than 22:00 or leave BKK much earlier than 00:20)
QF SYD-BKK-SYD flights are setup to use one aircraft only. (Which is the whole idea)

BKK is really set up for passengers going to BKK and not transferring through, if you want to transfer to the UK then fly via SIN.

The current BNE plane originates in PER, and it looks like no more A333 for DRW!

My April 2012 JASA MEL-LHR has just be changed from QF29 to QF9. Looking forward to seat 12E on the 388. :)

Just as a side issue, I am assuming the lack of JASA availability (MEL-LHR), post March 25th 2010, for anything less than 757,191  points is a result of the system and changes bedding down, and not a sign of things to come! (Classic availability is still there.)

Looks like End of March it swicthes to a 333 (and changes from an overnight flight, to an afternoon, evening flight).

QANTAS NS12 Changes to Melbourne – Hong Kong Service | AIRLINE ROUTE
[h=1]QANTAS NS12 Changes to Melbourne – Hong Kong Service[/h] Starting 25MAR12, QANTAS is to operate Airbus A330-300 aircraft on Daily Melbourne – Hong Kong service. This will replace existing Daily 747-400 service which extends to London Heathrow, ending on 24MAR12.
Schedule as per 0430GMT 23AUG11 GDS timetable display:

QF029 MEL1415 – 2145HKG 333 D
QF030 HKG1855 – 0710MEL 333 D

very very bad for me. I do trips to Europe via BKK with stops there a couple of times a year booked in I class, now all I class is gone :(
Also I think SIN -SYD is too short to have a decent rest compared to the almost 9 hours on the BKK flights.

So for us EU QF members, we will no longer be able to do one X EU - LHR - HKG return to re-qualify 4 segments. The choices are reduced to: X EU - LHR -SIN return, or LHR-AU return via SIN only (unless you are eager to try out Jet*).

Mmmm. Not very nice.
