QF Staff angered by new safety video

Captain 'hello again' is really called Mal. He really is an A380 pilot. Also a very long time senior check captain...but still a very decent bloke. If **** had to happen, I'd be very happy to be with him.

The things you learn on AFF.

He'll always be Captain "Hello Again" to me!

I think McDonalds use the term "team" as well...

Well that (along with Team America of course) sounds the death knell for the word "team". The next Macquarie Dictionary will now contain the reference :-

team /tim/, n. 1. A collection of spotty fast food technicians 2. A collection of redneck marionettes

How stoopid of Qantas to include that insulting word (and uttered not by Paul Hogan but that greaseball 'merkin) to refer to the oligarchy headed by a benevolent dictatorship that is the Qantas Crew.

I know - let's march on Canberra to show our displeasure at the insult to Charles Kingsford Smith and all those who came after him. It's the only way these people wll learn not to mess with patriotic Oztraylians like us.

They should get the Flight Centre captain - that will add some credibility!

:p

The term "team" is what I would expect to hear from a "new world" airline trying to set a new perspective on public transport. The term "crew" better fits the image I have of an airline like QF. Of course there are multiple crews involved. On board there is the flight crew (or technical crew) and the cabin crew. Then there is the ground crew etc. My immediate image of a team is a group of people wearing the same clothes/jerseys/guernseys with a common goal of winning some game/sport/competition. The term team brings to me the connotation of competition, while the term crew brings the concept of structure, authority and assigned roles and responsibilities.

Perhaps the first one that went into retirement (before 'captain smiley' they use now) can be dragged up. "We guarantee to crash 10% less or you crash free"? No, that doesn't work :)

It amazes me how strong Qantas is, that after all this crazy criticism they still endure as not just Australia's best, but one of the world's best.

One thing that the new video did was make everyone aboard my flight last night sit up and pay attention!
