QF still not budging on claimed 31 Oct 2021 resumption of non-NZ intl flts [now December]

Yes, and yet buried in the bowels of Budget Paper 2 is this statement:
[Federal Government will provide funding to] support major Australian passenger airlines through the International Aviation Support program from 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2021 to retain flight ready crews and maintain international aircraft in preparation for the return of international travel
Possibly this detail item was already out of date when the buidget was brought down.

This item from the QF media release about international travel opening Mid 2022, but QF selling tickets from 19 Dec
This planning assumption will allow the Qantas Group – and Australia – to be ready to take advantage of pockets of tourism and trade opportunity as they emerge in a post-COVID world
...might better be described as taking advantage of pockets of hopeful travellers!

QF is clearly hoping that there will be more travel bubbles by the end of the year and wants to hold onto cash from ticket sales for as long as possible.
 
Virgin is following QF’s lead and hoping for some more travel bubbles by the end of the year.
