QF to fly BENDIGO to SYD!

Time for a bit of an update...

Most days there are two return flights per day, but it's been a bit patchy of late with several flights cancelled or diverted due to low cloud and poor weather at Bendigo Airport. Quite frustrating for some travellers.

Loadings not as high as a month ago, but seems to have stabilised.

Sounds good I think OOL would work at least twice a week. Even during say October hols to Easter.

I'm a regular patron of the SYD-BXG route and there have also been lots of schedule changes and inconvenient retimings lately which is making the route very difficult to reliably fly on.

- The daytime turnaround service has been re-timed a numerous times over the last few months from an AM to PM departure and now back to a mix of AM/PM depending on the day of the week - now on most days it departs SYD at 7am in the morning which isn't the most convenient time. They've been hitting a lot of fog trying to arrive into BXG at this time, it also means the ex-BXG flights both depart close to each other in the morning.
- The two return services per day will be significantly slimmed down in a couple of weeks for the remainder of the current scheduling period (through to the end of October) - and will operate only 3 overnight services and 5 daytime turnarounds per week.
- From the next scheduling period (Nov - Mar), it returns to a twice daily service.
- Then from Apr onwards, not the greatest schedule, back to a slimmed down timetable with 5 daytime turnarounds and 3 evening turnarounds (the QF1407 service that normally overnights will depart SYD late afternoon and return back to SYD in the evening).

- From the next scheduling period (Nov - Mar), it returns to a twice daily service.

That has now been cut to a 6 x weekly service (M-F, Sun), with 9:40/9:45 departure from SYD on weekdays (returning at 12:15) and 16:40 on Sundays (returning at 19:15).

Behind a paywall, so haven't been able to read, but this headline implies due to "Qantas constraints" (staff? or not meeting margin targets?)

Reports directly from one of the regular FAs servicing this route yesterday, loads on this route have been strong.

I was on a QF flight earlier this week MEL-SYD and was sitting next to a Q400 FO who was being sent up to operate one return service due staffing problems. I also noted a Rex FO paxing in full uniform a few rows up in which I don’t often see. The whole world is understaffed.

You would think that strong passenger loads would be reflected in a more consistent ongoing schedule.
Yeah I agree, I did actually cancel a trip on that route because they pissed about with the schedule, flew from MEL instead. And the car has to be somewhere, so I can’t fly into one and out of the other.

It’s staffing related not load related as stated upthread and in article.
Yeah that makes sense.
