Any word on the other Australian port that will fly to Narita 3x weekly?

Slightly OT, but has anyone travelled between NRT-HND? How long does it take usually and how about a rough estimate of the cost (any mode of transport)?

Theres a regular limousine bus. Approx $20 and 90 min. Very easy

as aussie_flyer said. we booked it before we left Oz but i think you can tickets on the day at the terminals

No need to prebook, just head to the counter but note they are sticklers for rules. At 1116 would not sell ticket for 1120 just 1140. So 20 min standing on the pavement in the very well marked lanes, shuffling forward as the numbers change (Japanese efficiency)

Hi All,

I have spent a bit of time trying to find an answer for this but not much luck. I am flying SYD -HND in August, I believe the plane is a 737-400 any chance with won't be a refurb? Any idea what the J seats will be? Any comments on the possible service/overall experience? I have flown Qantas twice in my life both domestic both in Y and one was actually a Qantas Link flight. Any thoughts on the plane and seat would be great! THanks

Absolutely no chance it will be a 737-400, they have long left the QF fleet.

There is no point about worrying about whether or not you are going to get a reformed 747 for a flight in August, as you will probably see your seat map change a million times between now and then. You currently have more 747's that are refurbs compared to those that are not, however the flights that head to NRT/HND don't specifically require the use of the ER's.

I'm sure that is a typo, but the plane is currently a 747-400 not a 737. My flight in August (HND-SYD) is a 4 class non-refurb bird, so standard J seats are Skybed MkI, however if you have status you will be able to select the old F seats in the nose, which is precisely what I have done :).

I think the older non-refurbed 3/4 class birds are generally used for Japan.

Thanks, yes typo. I guess it's wait and see.

If you are already booked then you should be able to see the seat map and there are various clues for determining whether it is refurbed or not and whether it is 4 or 3 class.

Booked though US airlines. Don't know how or if I can access that?

No new yet on the 3x weekly AU-NRT port.

There are a number of ground options between NRT and HND. The most commonly used is the bus transfer departing NRT every 20 minutes. Cost is ¥3,100 and takes 60-90 minutes depending on traffic. https://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/bus_services/narita/haneda.html

There are a number of train options, however most will require a change of trains. One option is the JR Narita Express to Shinagawa connecting to the Keikyū Airport Line. Another is the Keisei Access Express to Oshiage, then change to the Keikyu Airport Express to Haneda. There are limited number of through services on Keikyu/Keisei that don't require changing at Oshiage.

You will need the QF PNR/Booking reference. If it is not on the paperwork you got from US, you need to contact US and ask for it.
Then use that PNR on qantas.com MMB to view seat maps.

Brilliant, thanks for your help. I'm guessing if you had a ski bag and carry-on sized rollerboard it wouldn't be a problem with taking two pieces of luggage?

Suitcase and a ski bag each have not been a problem for us in the past.
I now make sure my connecting flight departs from the same airport. I would rather check our bags in at the Narita domestic transfer desk and spend a day in Tokyo or Narita before the evening flight to Sapporo.
(The ski shops in the Kanda area of Tokyo have some amazing deals ;) ).

It will be even more convenient when the QF flights land at Haneda.

Will all be perfectly tagged and politely handled.

Alternatively you might consider using a takuhaibin service to get it delivered all the way to the snow.

Thanks again.
I'm possibly looking at going to GUM first though ;)
So now with the night ex-SYD departure now going to HND (that timing works the best for me at this stage), I'm not sure about stopping in Tokyo or Guam first.
Never skiied in Japan (lots of friends have), but for my first time might just go to the Hakuba/Nagano region only.

I'll look for a skiing in Japan thread - some more snow related questions may be best put over there if there is one.

Rather than lugging you ski stuff all the way to Guam why don't you send it onto your Japanese hotel/lodge via Yamato takkyubin when you land in Japan:
Sending | YAMATO TRANSPORT CO., LTD.

It only costs $15-$20 per bag and your gear will be waiting for you when you arrive. Makes it much easier to catch the train from HND to Tokyo then train to Nagano or Alpico bus to Hakuba.
