QF x AccorHotels

For anyone who has changed to the automatic transfer, what happens to the points that are already in your account? Will they automatically transfer across, more do you have to manually make them transfer? Just trying to work out if I wait for the points there already to go across, or if I have to do it manually.

They automatically go across.

I also got the 50% offer except my pts transferred at 1:1. Another thing to chase up. I don't mind Accor hotel stays but their loyalty programme is just amateur hour!

Up to 12 weeks after November 30 is my guess:

^ A bonus of 50% more Qantas Points will be awarded to members who set their Automatic Conversion option to Qantas Frequent Flyer and have points converted to Qantas Points between 18 September and 30 November 2015. Bonus Qantas Points may take up to 12 weeks to appear in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

I use e-rewards but it is pretty slow going to get enough points so once I hit the next mark I reckon i'll stop.

Got an email from Accor about erewards and saying "earn 250 points for your first survey", which is great especially if it then flows through to QF directly, except when I register with erewards it only shows the Virgin redemption options, no Accor? Also no survey available, but hey ...

Can you see Accor as a reward in ereward?

Yes. Try filtering the options in reward centre. I think the category is travel/leisure. There aren't that many options so you should see it??

there is no filtering available, only shows the 4 various virgin options (250 points, 500, etc). I wonder if it's because of cookies .. I created another account for virgin points previously, different login and all, but I wonder if it's somehow sticking.

I click on 'Reward Centre' and have all the choices. Sorry, can't offer any other help. Don't use that often to be honest.

I used to transfer these, however the hotel vouchers are better value IMHO.
2000 points = 40EUR voucher
I would struggle to get 40EUR worth of value from 2000 QFFP. Perhaps on international J/F redemption.
Agreed but I have encountered problems using Accor points for hotel stays. Most Ibis and Ibis styles are excluded and for Mercure the voucher cannot be used on the cheap rates/sale rates but only what appears to be flexible rates. I haven't looked at more expensive hotels as that defeats the purpose of trying to save money.

I now have over 20,000 Accor points. Trying to work out where is best to send them. Not Qantas and not sure about Velocity either.

Never had an issue, just ensure you log in to your account first, then it usually presents as an option on the payment page.

The old voucher system wasn't as reliable IMO.

I have tried already. Very restrictive for the hotels I want to book.

Very strange as I have had no restrictions and it's as good as cash IME.

You're not referring to advantage plus free nights are you? The program is pathetic and I left it years ago.

Tried a dummy booking for Ibis Pattaya last night. Option for using points not offered.

It's a participating Accor hotel. Why is it excluded? And why exclude sale rates?

It forces you to spend more than you otherwise would have, and making the points virtually valueless in the process. It's not too much of an issue for those who stay in the 4-star or above properties and don't use sales rates but I don't think there are many of us in this category. I currently have 60k points sitting there, wondering what to do with them.

Transfer to Delta, Singapore, Cathay at 2 for 1 or Velocity and Qantas at 1 for 1.

I don't see the value in premium travel. It would be nice to use the points on hotel stays without staying in 4 star and above as you mention.

It's 1 for 1.5 to Qantas at the moment which is looking somewhat attractive. Or I can transfer to Singapore via Virgin at an effective rate of 1.35 for 1.

Isn't Qantas via direct sweep?

I guess 30,000 QFF points for MNL-BNE in economy and only ~AUD60 in taxes is worth at least ~AUD350. That's not too bad is it?

There's a promotion at the moment, where all points going into Qantas gets a 50% bonus. Think it ends next month.

I'm usually quite happy with anything that gets me more than 1 cent per point. Of course, J/F is much better value in terms of cash saved, but most times, I'm in the camp of "why pay 60,000 points to get somewhere when I can pay 30,000" and disregard the actual travel class. I might change my mind later as I age.
