Thanks for the kind comments jakeseven7 & Reggie :)

Yes, jakeseven7, that is my website (from which I do not profit in any way or form I might add)

It's great as it not only is for my own personal reference, it also doubles as a site for the flying public and interested parties to refer to. It's time consuming having to update and maintain the information, but it's a labour of love.

Some people couldn't give a toss about the information on the website, but it's nice to see that most people find it useful and are interested in it.

There should be some more information about the 2nd 747-400 to receive Y+ in the coming weeks. Do remember that before Y+ makes a debut in APR, your best chance of getting a Y+ seat with Y services is on SYD-BKK-LHR (QF1) and vv on select days from mid-Feb.

Cheers

I love the information on your site WD :) Great work.

Do QANTAS publish which plane is on which route? Also does it change much - i.e. does VH-OJK consistently fly QF1?

I'm just curious about that kinda stuff, the 'behind the scenes' workings of an airline and how they manage their maintenance. For example are there alwasy 2 spare 744's to rotate through maintenance? It must take a lot of well orchestrated organisation!

Also, which route do the 747-400ER's usually work? Pacific to LAX/SFO?

I find all this stuff facinating :p

QF doesn't publish registration info, and yes VH-OJK is expected to operate QF1/2 for some time until more 4-class 744s come online.

The 744ERs (along with the 3 ugly sisters) normally operate Pacific routes (QF11/12/73/74/107/108/149/150), but also operate some additional routes (eg. QF31 SYD-SIN-LHR on Sundays, which operates the same aircraft as the incoming QF150). QF93/94 always gets an ER due operational constraints.

VH-OEB, VH-OBC and VH-OED. These were purchased second hand from MAS and Asiana. When first delivered they had interiors that were not up to the usual QF standards. However, they have since been refitted and now its difficult to tell from the inside that they are not QF-delivered aircraft.

They are QF's only GE-powered 747-400s (the 747-400ERs are also GE powered). The GE-engined 747-400s have slightly better performance than the RR powered ones, which is why these are generally used on the Pacific route.
