Does anyone know if the seats I have chosen: 4E & 4F on the Lower Deck are better than rows 17 & 18 on the Upper Deck? If SeatGuru is correct, it looks like they are First Class Seats and I've managed to get them with J Tickets. I have 16A & 16B BNE to SIN on SeatGuru recommendation. However, these aren't availbale on the trip home.

If the cabin shows 1A and 1K only in row 1, it'll be F seating.

If it shows 1AB 1JK it'll be J seating.

THere can always be last minute aircraft swap too.

Thanks so much for your promt reply. OMG. It shows only 1A and 1K in row 1. I guess that means we'll be in First Class Seating. .........should put GPH in 1A and me in 1K? ....and should I change 16A & 16B to 4E & 4F for the flights BNE to SIN as well?

I'd stay in 4EF if travelling together, or take whatever you can get in the A ("First") cabin. And I'd definately move from 16AB if it's F seating in zone A. The only downside is if there's a change of aircraft, 16 is the exit row which are good seats as no climbing over the aisle pax to get out (mind you, neither in 4EF anyway).

If you've never been in 1A and that floats your boat, it's not bad but you wont be able to talk easily from 1A/K. But if that doesnt bother you, I like 1A as you look kind-of forward out the window (due to the nose bending inwards) which I kind of like.

I was only (slightly) joking about putting GPH on the opposite side of the plane from me. We don't talk when we're flying anyway. This has been a big help thanks. I thought for some reason that the upper deck might be better than the lower deck, however, I'll change both directions to the A Cabin.

I did this trip last August QF51 & 52 & while I normally travel upstairs in the 747 because 51 & 52 are normally 3 class (J W & Y) I decided to try the "A" cabin, 1J&K over & 4J&K back. Overall a much quieter cabin I thought. In hindsight 4E&F would have been better than 4J&K because you are in the middle by yourself. Although 1K & A have great window views so I would go for these again.

Thanks. That's also very helpful. Think I'll try 1A & K on the way over and 4E & F on the way back. Quieter cabin is more appealing

Having flown QF51 in 16A & B, I'm now pleased I snagged 4E & F for the night flight home on QF52 as they are the fully flat (non angled) seats. Could have been the 7 hour delay on Friday but I found the angle of 16A quite tiring. BTW has anyone seen the ballroom between row 15 & 16 on that plane?

There was a last minute swap. They had to bring a new aircraft up from Sydney to take us to Singapore. Someone broke the rudder on the first one. Identical plane....but the same FANTASTIC crew. Poor things. Hope they got lots of overtime
