Am travelling on QF11 - Syd to LAX this saturday, 2 days ago i checked my booking on qantas site and was flying A380, seats requested, etc...

checked tonight and now it says flying 747... not happy..... now dont get the great entertainment system on 747 as you would for A380 (this would be great for our 2 young kids)......

Dont know why they have changed planes as i read the A380 on QF11 are daily A380 flights, now that is all changed... anyone know why?

It's only on Saturday this week that it's a 747 SYD-LAX

Not sure why. Could be maintenance related, could be charter related. In summary, expect a 747.

Could possibly be Qantas moving the A380 onto LHR routes to add extra capacity to cover for the BA cabin crew strikes.

I am booked on QF11 4 Oct - looks like it is now a 747 in lieu of A380. I have been allocated 35JK (PY) - if it is now a 747 will config be 40PY or 32PY?

I got caught out by this as well flying LAX-SYD :( Luckily I upgraded to F so I managed to get a lie flat bed which I needed as it was my fourth flight of the day...

This is a little annoying by Qantas and I hope they get the numbers of birds to be reliable on their scheduling soon.

Can you get a seat map using www.checkmytrip.com ?

In any case it looks like a Kangaroo route config. with WHY stating in row 40 so that's 32 seats ...

I'm sure I flew a couple of months back in a QF 747 that had the same or similar entertainment system as the 380. There certainly wasn't much difference that I noticed on the US flight in particular.

What class?

While the 744 Avod is OK when it works, I'd estimate the 388 version at least twice as good. There are far more movie/audio/tv selection available with touch screen in all classes (not in WHY on 744).
