Granted that QF does not fly this route every day, and not all through out the year either, has anyone on here tried it?
Novelty, seeing that PER has not seen any "(real)" everyday regular QF flights internationally for a long time.
I have done an afternoon PER dep night MEL arr, have done a night SYD arr as well, I would want to/like to try an AKL arr in a 330!
Would love to do a QF a330 AKL arr after sun up.
Or would I be the "guineapooch"? And be the first.
I hear that there is/could be still a QP at PERi?
O, and yes, I do realise that (A)NZ has had a similar service for a while now, but that flight arrives spot on at 6.15am or so.
I know I talk a lot about taking flights here there and everywhere.

There is still an international business lounge at Perth International Terminal though it would make sense to merge it with the EK lounge. Or share the QF lounge for J and make the EK lounge an F lounge.
I won't try the direct PER-AKL flights because I can earn more SCs flying via MEL or SYD and also score an EK A380 for the trans Tasman sector.
If QF put a refitted A330 on the direct route I might try it.

My partner & I completed this sector 06/Dec in J. We had a month away in NZ\east coast so decided to use some FF points & was by far the best seat availability at that time of year. Sale fares were $999 j. Good flight with friendly staff, comfortable seating although didn't allow you to pre-order via Q-Eat. Busy flight, was half full with economy a good 90%. It was like a special moment being 2nd QF flight out perth internationally for many months so the priority lane was non-existent until half way boarded. I found breakfast service to be less than satisfactory but suppose it may suits another passengers taste buds. We just had a few banana smoothies.

Thanks esse.... and Tyler21.
For me, it would be a novelty, but yes, I can see I would loose 20SCs for J, (just taking PER - AKL), vs ADL-SYD/MEL-AKL.
The bit from ADL-PER and AKL-MEL-ADL will make up a bit of the difference.
Apart from catching the EK metal QF flight number from Au east coast to NZ, that QF111 is the only other $$$ "(interesting)" J way to get to try something "new" TT wise.

If you want to try something new you could book from ADL-MEL-AKL in F - sit in J for the domestic sector then in F on an EK A380 to AKL. Have a shower at 39,000 feet. It's not hideously expensive I think ~$1400 each way.

I really think that would be going in the wrong direction.

There are three other oneworld airlines that service Perth. If anything, it would be preferable to make it a oneworld lounge, operated by QF, with Jetstar passengers having access.

The EK lounge is nextdoor. The only other OW lounge is MH Gold Lounge which is on the other side of the entry and duty free rabbit warren, along with the SQ Silver Kris Lounge.

Personally I'd prefer tighter integration with OW but I'd accept any improvement at PER which generally seems to go out of its way to be the worst airport possible.

Any recent reviews/experiences on qf111/112 this season? Are they using a refit a330? EK lounge access? Also, can someone confirm the overnight PER-AKL leg offer PJs? I've heard a rumor it might... Cheers.

I'm not sure about PJs, but they've been using an older domestic-configured A330, with 2-2-2 recliner seats in J this season. I would imagine the aircraft will be upgraded next season to the new 1-2-1 configuration in J, as all of the A330 refurbishments will have been completed by then.

PJ's were freely offered when I travelled Dec 2014 and it's disappointing to see that QF has been utilising a Domestic recliner product on an international service, certainly doesn't compare to ANZ's 787 flat beds. Although looking at April, the new refurbished birds seem to be allocated for both Fri/Sat services right upto the last flight for the season. Good way to utilise the AA 17,500 miles before changes come in.

The PER-AKL flights were operated by VH-EBC this weekend. This is a refurbished A330 with the new J suites.

I'm going on this flight Dec 31 - my first QF international J experience, and crossing over to the new year, no less. Currently a refurbed A330-200.

Unfortunately it's now scheduled for 18:40 departure from PER, arriving 06:05 (+1) in AKL. More of an evening flight than an 'overnight flight', since it will be 1am Perth time when we arrive - I think the jetlag will be bad and I don't know if I should try sleep a few hours or stay up :p

Also timing means no EK lounge access since it's too early.

You know, that flight from PER - AKL could be twinned with the QF flight PER - SIN, if only QF swapped QF7x from a 737 to a 330!
6.05am would just be a slightest hint of a sun rise view.
I have seen it from the window of a 737 CHC - SYD, just beautiful, the slightest hint of the sun over the horizon.
Would have been nice if that 330 arrived into AKL just a tiny bit later.
No EK lounge, so they do open the PER QFi J lounge for these few int flights?
That flight you are doing is still on my bucket list. Haven't done it yet still.
Aiming to fly SYD - CHC in F again thought, will take more pics of the SYD QFi F lounge.

The Qantas lounge in Perth is the J lounge for many airlines other than Qantas... so it remains open whether qantas is flying or not ( I assume this makes qantas some money). Precise opening hours are available on the qantas website.

Whoa! QF taking off 10 mins prior to NZ! well...one of the NZ flights. That's close timing!

Do your usual day in PER then Konk out on the flight to get some sleep then stay up once you arrive......you can have a little nap on arrival to accommodation if needed but try to stay up for the day to get in sync.

I actually like the terminal offerings airside at Perth. But the showers in the QF lounge are nice.
