I know that this has been mentioned in other threads, particularly on some MEL-LHR flights, but anyway......

On QF17 & QF18, SYD-EZE rtn, Qantas seem to have stopped selling F, they have moved J pax to F seats & upstairs J seats (with J service), and PE appear to be in the remaining J seats.

I flew EZE-SYD last week on a J award ticket, and can confirm that I had 1K.

I am looking at purchasing a Y+ ticket, for this weekend, SYD-EZE-SYD for around $3k, which is great value if I get a J seat (with Y+ service, of course).

Checking the seat map on EF, Y+ is listed for rows 23 to 26 and 29 to 30, all in a 2-3-2 configuration, with does indeed appear to be J seats.

Only problem is, Seatguru lists J, on a 4-class 744, as being rows 23 to 26, and rows 29 & 30 aren't on the seat map at all.

Does anyone have any ideas what this might mean? Maybe I am looking at the wrong seat map on Seatguru?

Thanks, I think it must be the second seat map, as it shows Y+ from Row 35, which appear as blocked out Y on EF.

It also shows 29 & 30 as J seats, which is great.

I have booking on QF30 LHR-MEL in Oct showing this:

Class: Premium Economy (T)
Seat Selections: 26F - 26E

Would this be business class seating? Would be pleasant if indeed it is.

Making assumptions on the seat map, but that's most likely the last row of the skybeds - so yup!

If you can dig up a seatmap for your flight and your row is showing 2x3x2 on a 744 then you have skybeds.

Serfty, following one of your posts elsewhere in this forum, I booked this flight and am yet to determine how I get home to Sydney from Melbourne. BUT I also booked my dad to return from LHR on QF30 on 21 Sep. He too is showing row 26 seat. Hope he will get J seats as well.

Clicking on flight no. does not bring up the usual smaller window with details. Would QF tell me with certainty if I call them?

Try www.checkmytrip.com . Plug you Qantas PNR and Surname in to 'log in'.

Once 'logged' in, look to the bottom of the "your flight selection" box for:
[+]view details click to see additional information including price, payment and flight special requests.

Click the "[+]view details" and the window will expand and you may see any seat pre-selection there. If you do see a seat number, click that/those and you may get a seat map.

Check the seat map for 2x3x2 (Skybed) or 2x4x2 (PE seating)

Muchas gracias. Glad that we both have 2x3x2 seating. :D

Saturdays is a pacific configuration 744.
The Nose and upstairs are being sold as J, all downstairs Skybeds comprise Y+.

just dropping a thank you note. My partner and I have just returned from a 3 week holiday in BA (SYD-EZE). I read this thread a couple weeks before heading over. It sounded promising so I decided to buy Y+ tickets to take advantage of the J seats. And when issued the seat allocation in J seats I then requested the upgrade with points. That put us onto skybeds for the 13 hour haul---glorious sleep & comfort for someone that's +6ft. It all worked a treat plus my girl was totally stoked about the seats.

muchas gracias chicas:D

With your Y+ ticket, you already had skybeds (downstairs). The upgrade should have given you first class seating (downstairs) or skybeds (upstairs). I hope it was the former :)
