A friend messaged from SIN. Their 1930 departure was rescheduled to 1400 the next day. There was no one to speak with until check in opened. She heard other passengers saying they'd been put on the 2100 departure so she karened her way onto that flight (her words, but mine). The only reason she even went to the airport was to ask for paperwork to claim on travel insurance and it was only then they were offered hotel vouchers.

So my questions - any intel on the delay (they told her refueling issues)? And do passengers really have to from up to the airport for hotel vouchers?

Last year, when our flight from 16:40 MEL to SIN was cancelled and we were put on the 12:00 flight the next day we were advised to check a link out about reimbursement (which gave limits) and submit a claim for reimbursement for accommodation, meals and transport.
 
QF should buy more A380.
Bit hard when they are out of production, and QF already elected to scrap two of the ones it had...

I suppose a few second hands floating around out there - not to mention the four QF have that are sitting in AUH for various reasons...
 
Large complex aircraft, last month I flew one and the sinks started to have reduced drainage flow halfway through the flight.

Could have been nothing but a stuck, albeit expensive, valve restricting flow.

We kept going but if that happens on the ground probably wouldn’t have departed.

You shouldn’t have to queue up at the airport for vouchers. I think the qantas policy is that you can stay in your current hotel and they’ll pay it, plus food. But obviously communicating that to the passenger is key!

Sinks are a problem on all aircraft. It’s amazing just what gets put down them….

You’re right about the 380 being a complex aircraft, which is why I’ve always laughed at tiny mobs who reckon they’ll get two and conquer the world. They simply won’t have the support. Sadly, what I’m seeing convinces me that QF has possibly lost that ability too.

Unlikely. QF2 is an A380 that won’t go anywhere near PER.

Probably just the run of the mill A380 issues lately.
Though, it doesn't actually need to go to PER. If people were impacted in London, they may be rerouted onto QF2 and further passengers down the line bumped.

I have no knowledge of what actually happened, just a possible supposition.
