QF28 to QF5 customs clearance

Did you get an orange sticker at the transit area? Imagine you wouldn't get one at original point of departure.

My first time transiting MEL it was I-I and I cleared immigration in person.

The second time where where I landed up in the F lounge. I went through international transit, not sticker etc. When I entered the F lounge my pass wouldn't scan. The lady at the front desk let me in and said she'd page me once sorted out. I had a shower and was about to eat when someone from QF came to escort me through MEL arrival immigration to enter Australia. Then back through departure immigration where I got the orange sticker for my boarding pass.

UPDATE
Went to Qantas desk at PER airport, they were very sympathetic but could not give me any definite answer, suggested I wait till after QF5 commences on June 11th and see what happens. They did mention that they had been flagged that there were changes coming to the orange sticker system but had not yet been told what they were, which could indicate immigration and customs in Perth.
Then last Friday Qantas changed the flight SYD-PER to a domestic flight (737 instead of 787!!!) departing 1hr 55mins after QF28 lands, this is better than before but still doesn't give a lot of leeway if QF28 is not on time(gives 1hr 25mins to clear immigration and customs and transfer to SYD domestic before luggage drop cutoff). Suppose we will have to wait and see how it goes.

Heh, you sadly got the equipment swap.
I did mention it was a possibility, but all said, no, this is what QF used to do on some days with the QF9 and QF10.
So twoharts, in your case, you will be indeed be in a rush to get the last flight from SYD - PER.
But lucky, in a way its with QF, on the one PNR, so at SYD T1, just reclaim bags off carousel, do incoming DAFF amd Aus immi procedures, follow the long walkway, and go to bag drop at the int - dom bus bay, do dom sec screening, get BP, and get the bus to gate 15 at T3.
---
The 737 is bad in Y, very tight, esp for that long dom sector.
Hope they just might give you a "shadow"!

(gives 1hr 25mins to clear immigration and customs and transfer to SYD domestic before luggage drop cutoff).
You drop bags at the SYD transfer desks outside intl arrivals, then get the QF bus to domestic. No need to schlep bags all the way to domestic yourself.

And (IME) if you're on track to, or have missed your flight, this is where you get shuffled if the system hasn't moved you already.

Coming off qf8 last year I was shifted to a later flight but managed to get back on the original as it was itself delayed.

Wonder tho if/would QF be up for a night at a hotel if QF28 is late in, and twoharts miss the last flight to PER.

On 17May, it arr early according to the web.
On 19May, it arr late, past 18.00.

Thanks everyone for their advice, I had forgotten about the bag drop outside international arrivals, that will make it easier but I still think everything has to line up for it to work, no delays in flights or immigration and customs. We will see. If it fails then should be on Qantas(a perk of paid business!!!). Will keep forum updated.
AustraliaPoochie: what is a "shadow"?

A shadow refers to the seat next to a (usually) hugh status passenger being blocked (ie left vacant) if load permits. Sometimes granted to QF Platinum and above - but in no way to be expected or guaranteed.

Update:
Have started journey back to Aust, Luggage checked/tagged all the way through to Perth from Bogota, have spoken to Latam staff at lounge who have contacted Qantas customer care her in Santiago who advise that luggage will be offloaded for collection in Sydney for immigration and customs and is tagged through to Perth for dropoff before shuttle to domestic. They believe 1hour 55minutes is enough time. We will see what happens and I will give another update.
On a side issue, is there a thread about Qantas changing the access rules for lounge access to the Latam VIP lounge in Santiago, only able to access 3 hours before QF28 departs or pay additional for 'early lounge access'. Thanks

QF5 departs from International T1. Guess you need a D sticker (other will give more precise information)

Although the first leg of QF5 is a domestic journey, the flight departs from Sydney Airport’s international terminal. You’ll clear immigration and international security in Sydney.

Or still on a B737?
