Hi All,

Richard de Crespigny, the pilot-in-command of QF32 (the A380 which suffered an uncontained engine failure), is speaking at a special community forum being held at Canberra Grammar School from 7:00pm - 9:00pm this coming Monday 3 December 2012. His presentation will be discussing the QF32 incident. There will also be a signing of his new book titled "QF32" following the talk.

The event organisers at Canberra Grammar School are more than welcome for members of the greater community (particularly, AFF members) to attend the presentation. It is a free event, but bookings are necessary due to limited seating (the original round of seating sold-out in 24 hours, so they moved it to a larger venue at the school).

You can find more information and the booking form at: Canberra Grammar School - QF32: The Story

If any AFF members are attending then please reply to this thread - it would be great to organise a meet-up on the evening.

Hope to see you there!

I just saw him in Syd J Dom lounge this evening. Didn't get a chance to say hi to him though a someone else got to him first!

Very likely to be posted via iPhone or iPad :)

Thanks for posting this OccasionalFlyer. I've just booked a ticket. I'll see you there.

@vitagen - Heh, close encounter :)

@PeteJ - Fantastic, look forward to seeing you there! I'll put a post up on Monday with a meeting point so that anyone who is attending from AFF can meet-up.

@Hvr - No worries mate, will let you know how it goes :)

Would have turned up but I am flying back from HBR on Monday night.

My wife was reading the book on a recent (A380) trip to LHR when one of the crew noticed it and mentioned that they had been on that flight. "Now that was a hard day at the office" was their comment.

Haven't been around here for a little while but was just about to post the same thread.

I'll be there on Monday - would be happy to catch up before or after.

Damn. I would've flown to CBR to see this but it's a bit late to organise anything now. Does anyone know if similar events will be held in other cities?

Sorry, not quite sure about similar events in other cities.

For anyone attending tonight, let's do a meet-up afterwards. I am the person doing the welcome and introduction, which should make me easy enough to find afterwards.

Hi All,

I only caught the tail end of it while driving this morning, but QF32's A380 Captain Richard de Crespigny was the guest on ABC Local Radio's "Conversations with Richard Fidler" today. I haven't had a chance to read his book just yet, but from the limited amount that I got to listen to, all I can say is absolutely incredible event, decision-making & outcome! Dare I say it, that is why I choose to fly QF.

There were still 5 min remaining when I got to my destination, but needless to say, I was in no hurry to get out of the car...but unfortunately Mrs 8803 was standing on the footpath waiting for me to get out. I've already checked. Interview available as a podcast from the iTunes Store. That means I go to sleep 1 hour later tonight...
