QF51/52 BNE-SIN 747 from early May through to Mid Sept.

I'm on QF51 / 747 on the 10th of September in whY+

According to the QF seat selection and EF, it looks like a 3 class cabin (whY, whY+ & J).

Bugger (already scored a J seat in whY+ on QF-late on the way home :).

All August she has been a 3 classer or A330, the good days have gone, with QF7/8 going daily and the reconfigs happening now I doubt we will see much 4 class activity, pity as QF need something to attract from the 4 SQ flights on most days!

Pathetic that SQ can fill 4 a/c and QF can fill 1 (usually a 330).

Not to mention that soon you'll be able to earn and redeem on these 4 a/c, plus the Etihad a/c using Velocity Frequent Flyer.

That covers 5/7ths of the BNE-SIN flights, and Emirates leaves in the middle of the night.

This seems to be a 747 again next year from end of March...

Just spotted this when checking my booking for 10 April (to see what had happened to price since I booked in early August) - definitely a good result - 1A bagged. Now have A380/B747 out (LHR/SIN/BNE) and A380 all the back from MEL. The price has even jumped up by £900

As QF51/52 seems to be operated by a 747 again through the winter, does anyone know whether they've allocated some of the Y+ cabin as Y? They're definitely selling Y+ tickets so it's not a two class flight but I wasn't sure whether they were holding back all of the Y+ cabin for Y+ fares.

My September BNE-SIN looks like it's in a 4-class, sold as 3 (J/Y+/Y). From KVS:

Seat rows in J:
1-4
1-13 (upper deck)
16-18 (upper deck)
23-26

Seat rows in Y+ (W):
34-37 (32 seats)

Seat rows in Y:
40-41 (with 40 HJK missing ie Kangaroo config)
46-56
58-75

I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that they'd be overselling Y+ on this flight rather than making it part of the Y inventory. But that's just me speculating. Perhaps someone with more experience can comment?

I definitely remember ex-BNE 747s being sold in the past with:
J seating in the F cabin
Y+ in a few J rows
Y in a few Y+ rows.

I presume the logic at the time was that a 747 out of Brisbane couldn't fill the J and F cabins completely with J fares and so all classes shuffled forward a few rows to allow additional Y fares to be sold. I've snagged 1A for my J fare in May but it sounds like I won't be able to pull a similar Y to Y+ trick on my July Y trip.

I would not get my hopes up too high, things can change quickly, QF at the moment are only taking into account the refits around a month before they are done, there is every chance things will change later in the year, indeed for the QF7/8 scenario, its likely to change for March flights in the next few days.

Are you suggesting that QF51/52 may revert back to A330 as early as May-12? I'll be disappointed if my First seat swaps back to a SkyBed mk1. :(

Unlikely to revert to an A333, but possible, more likely a three class bird will operate.

A three class 747 would be fine for me as I'd still get access to the old First cabin on a J fare. That change seems unlikely though as they're selling Y+ tickets for those flights so they obviously intend to fly four class 747s.

On a related note, I've now booked my Y tickets for my July trip and can confirm that it's allowing only Y rather than Y+ seat selections (as a P1, I would hope that I'd get a bite at the Y+ cabin if anyone was)

Three class birds dont have F, only PE and Y in addition to J! Last time QF51 had a 744 this was the main bird!

SeatGuru is showing all Qantas 747s as being F, J and Y. I know that some 747s are getting refitted with the skybed mkII in a J/PE/Y layout but I wasn't expecting to see those on the ex-BNE routes.

I guess I'll find out when I board!

I have always be wary of self named Gurus!

The seat map above is fromQF and shows the regos - note QF source have better updated info, as for the refits, they were first placed on the BNE routes!

After all the discussion above re the aircraft operating on my QF51 flight, I've just heard from Qantas that my flight is cancelled! Apparently, QF51 will not operate on Mondays from 25th March.

Oh well, back to the usual BNE-SYD-SIN-LHR dogleg...

And the capacity reductions start!

Pathetic. QF can't even manage daily and SQ can fill 4/day.

It just gets worse for QF in BNE.
