QF81 - A380 on Saturdays from Jul 15

I am on QF82 , A380 on Friday 4 August (Was on an A330). I notice the seating is 2+2+2, so old J seating. Do they sell first on this? Wondering what chances are of flying in First class , with J service as a Platinum.

They do not sell First. if you have status you may be able to preallotte a seat in rows 1 to 5 (J booking, F seating).

Surprisingly they are selling First

Actually, I was surprised to see that they ARE selling F on these flights, and have F and A inventory too (only 2 occupied seats currently on SIN-SYD on August 4th). EDIT: subject line says QF81 (SYD-SIN) but OP says QF82 SIN-SYD - so I looked at that one specifically :)

Unlike the HKG flights where the policy has been to only sell as J and WP can preassign into F seats if lucky, I guess since QF do offer F service on the 1/2 (and other carriers also have F) they are actually selling these as proper F.

I'm booked on QF81 on a Monday in August, and this has just been changed from an A330 to an A380.
Looks like it was just for a week or so as the A380 is currently operating QF81 on Saturdays only?

anyone know what the loads have been on QF1 and in particular QF81 with the switch to A380 - are they filling the plane?

Hi, anyone know why the qf81 service is changing to an A380 from July 15 until end of October (saturdays only)? the current daily service is on an a330 but (after the end of October this route switches to the Finnair wet lease Aircraft (daily). When are the remaining A380s returning? Thanks
Related to this is an additional BNE-SIN flight QF53 on Saturdays which will turn around as QF82 while the A380 operating QF81 overnights in SIN. On Sundays, QF81 operated by A330 will turn around as an additional QF38 SIN-MEL given that the A380 from the previous evening will operate QF82.

I makes a lot of sense to sell an F cabin on these given they'd have F catering, check-in, lounges, etc already sorted at both ends. Also good for F continuing on to LHR for those who want a longer layover in SIN.

QF82 scheduled to be operated by VH-OQG departing SIN at 20:45 has been delayed to 21:45, 22:45, 23:45 and now 00:15 with an announcement in the F lounge that the aircraft is undergoing an engine test run

Just boarded with no air con in the cabin and manual safety demo so looks like IFE won't be working but at least I ended up with a shadow

No heating and no IFE? I'd be asking for 20k points.
Looks like I was on this flight with AIRwin.

IFE came on around half way through the flight.

The plane was like a furnace until shortly after takeoff. It did not help that we had (what at least felt like) what felt like an extended period of time on the ground (I boarded around 12.20am and I was far from first, plane pushed back around 12.55am and took off just before 1.20am). Despite all that, as AIRwin has said, it was freezing.

Arrived in Sydney at around 10.16am so just short of 4 hours late.

No champagne for PDBs in J as the champagne was warm (presumably because of the cooling issues they had). We were offered juice or water.

Was not particularly fun.

Negotiate hard, even better if you can negotiate as a pair - whoever is in the lower cabin should negotiate first, then whoever's in the higher cabin should ask for 2x that 😁

Painful stuff, this. Trying to figure out if this was the return leg of my >2 hour delayed QF81 from SYD on Sat 19th? The 388 was initially delayed coming onto the gate at SYD due to the late departing QF11 to LAX blocking its spot, and then once it was attached, it was realised they needed to change a tyre; a special tyre which required that no freight, catering or pax loading could occur at the time. They also advised us once onboard that the APU was not functioning, and that there were all sorts of additional steps and tricks required to get the aircraft moving, all engines started and properly underway. Once we were off, though, it was all good, and a nice flight up; my first to SIN since covid, and first on the 388 in a lot longer than that!

Cheers,
Matt.

Yes it was the same aircraft - we also had the same issue with the APU and engine test runs
