Someone posts it on one of the social media sites and the media goes into a frenzy. The 'coverage' of the story on TV and radio yesterday afternoon was pretty ordinary.

I wonder if if wasn't a QF flight, would there be the interest? Probably not.

It would have been anxious for those on board but the crew did what they were trained for.

I am pretty sure if it was any Australian airline (or any airline flying between 2 Australian destinations) that broadcast an emergency code that there would be a similar level of interest.

Hi People, I am new - and I was on this flight! It was really, really scary - however the pilot and crew did a great job of getting us on the ground safely and I am very thankful for that.

Hi Annie17,

Welcome to AFF.

Thanks for the feedback.

Apart from media avenues - I am wanting to find out what actually happened as we were told very little - is this the place where I can find information on what the actual problem was?

We are a pretty knowledgeable bunch but on questions like this generally not.

However what you could do is go over to this thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/your-questions/ask-the-pilot-30478.html

jb747 is an A380 captain who generously donates his time to answer questions. He may answer any kind of general question you may have about the processes in place to deal with these events when they do arise. Obviously he will not know any specifics or on the off chance he does I doubt they are his to share.

From reports that have surfaced there was an indication of a pressurisation issue so the pilots decided to descend to a level where it's not needed to breathe, further factual info will come out from the ATSB investigation but that often takes months. Anything else is likely to be just conjecture, and chances are it was a faulty instrument and the pilots took the safe route, and there was no danger.

I only heard about this incident. Thankfully this did not become a new episode of Air Crash Investigations and they find the fault.

If you google QF974, this thread comes up first.

Well we are the source of all things FF. :!::?::shock:
Next thing you know the media will be quoting us quoting the media.

it wouldn't surprise me for some of the 'quality' journos from TT or ACA to quote this site if they were ever reporting on an airline.
Although we do have no affiliation to dodgy builders, parking inspectors or wild neighbours.

Returned to Brisbane tonight as QF6114 (or was it 6117, memory is a little foggy...)
