QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Requested 2 seats for SYD-MNL in December and was declined. The two dates I tried were showing as I6 and I9.

Spent 1 hr 25 mins on hold.

Called this morning to get 1x J seat on QF1 SIN-LHR in Sep. Declined for J & F, despite I9 and A9 (didn't ask for F but he checked anyway).
Checked a range of other routes and dates including QF9 which was also I9, all declined.

He managed to offer me SYD-BKK(QF) BKK-DOH(QR) and DOH-LHR(BA) but wasn't keen on three short legs in business - I would prefer a long leg somewhere to sleep. I actually found SIN-HEL-LHR myself in J and just booked that instead - I did want to spend some time in SIN before (will just book a cash fare or Y award seat for that, not fussed on a short day flight).

Had success getting 2xJ released on QF12 in August but that was one of about 11 flights over three different days we tried.

Trying at the moment for seats to SIN or BKK in July to connect on to HEL but awaiting the outcome of manual review.

Status update: 2xJ approved for release on QF35 in July. They also approved QF81 and QF35.

And in a lesson that reward seats become available every day - I for some reason checked again today and got BA16 all the way from SYD-SIN-LHR in J for the same date.

I now have two bookings. Pretty sure I want to go with the BA option, but don't want to give up anything just yet.

No reason not to hang on to both, you have a guaranteed flight and if something better comes along cancel closer to the date. It is free cancellation for international rewards to 31 Dec.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Main hesitation is one of my best friends just moved to KL and was talking about a weekend in Singapore to catch up on my way, but in reality it probably makes sense just to make that a dedicated trip and spend as much time as I can in UK/USA (taking leave from work).

Is someone able to check QF51 BNE to SIN on 25 July 22 for PE and J fare buckets? Looking to request two seats. Thanks

Sorry meant to say PE and J class, not fare buckets.

QF51 is operated by an Airbus A330. There is no PE cabin on this aircraft.

As for availability, you can easily check if J seats are available via the QF website. However I see none, only Economy. Which you would see for yourself via qantas.com.

And if you're asking about chances for two seats to be released... guess you'll have to call. It is showing 9's in all J fare classes, but that doesn't mean that computer will say yes. good luck.

Thanks - will give it a go

Mental blank and my skills searching this thread have failed me.

Can someone please remind me the fare bucket required for a X seat release for international?

crackup, expert flyer said x4 U avail on my original best date, syd dfw. 5 mins, 75 bucks extra (22ishk points each as well) and confirmed x2 in biz vs y+ cant pick seats for some reason, but probs system needs to process. hilarious.

So there appears to be a new process change that does indeed involve the agents calling through for requests for WP. Manual review used to only be for P1, but it appears the outsourced call centres do not have access to the droid.

My plan was to ask for QF 1/2 +/- 3 days as I normally do.

1) WP line answered in 2 mins
2) Agent took the details and set up commercial A fare booking
3) Agent then emailed a copy of the PNR to confirm the correct details. The month was incorrect on the return, but easily fixed
4) Agent then added a P class fare on request to the same PNR
5) Rather than approved via the droid she "called through" to get it approved. I'm unclear if this was to revenue management or HBA who might still use the droid. 20 mins on hold and her call went answered
6) Agent offered to call back
7) 20 mins later, got a call back saying it would take 48 hours and to check online or call back.

What is annoying is despite asking for +/- 3 days, the agent could only request the single date. If that isn't confirmed, I have to start the same process and wait 48 hours for each request. I didn't complain as I could tell she was following procedure as I could hear her reading the checklist under her breath.

Needless to say I'm going to call HBA tomorrow. I suspect they don't have the same access or procedures as HBA, possibly not the droid. It's also unclear if everything is now manual review?

Less than satisfactory experience because of the procedure that QF has created for its outsourced call centre. To go from a single phone call where you could check multiple dates to this process is ridiculous.

Needless to say I'm going to call HBA tomorrow.
Has anyone been able to get through to HBA? I've called a few times as a WP and always gotten Fiji in the last 2 weeks. While they are polite, they are extremely slow and follow the rules to the absolute letter.

I've only gotten through to South Africa. Am waiting a call back now so will let you know origin after the call
Didn't receive the promised call back so called again. Lucky to get a great Australian agent from Premium line, that was able to request and secure 2 J seats to BKK to replace my 2 J seats to HND as part of our Europe sojurn. Very happy with result.

Called at 9AM, got Fiji. HUCA. Got HBA.

Described yesterday and agent said the agent yesterday setup everything completely wrong. She also did not know who Fiji agents call, but she suspected it wasn't revenue management so we concluded they probably call a local support desk hence the long wait time. The instruction to only do one date at a time was only wrong. They can request 3 dates at once.

All QF1/2 F denied (as they usually are). Was able to get QF23/24 in J. The agent was so delightful when I said I needed to double check dates she kept them all for me for 24 hours.

In short: HUCA and until you get a HBA agent. They do not call and still use the droid with a response in under a minute.
