Some folks may scoff at this data point, but this is where I would argue QFF points really shine, being able to book tickets at popular times or close-in when ticket prices are high and getting them for the classic award price. The cash fare for this flight was $297 booked as a red-eye deal meaning that this redemption saved me $249 on 8,000 points redeemed working out to a per point redemption rate of 3.1 cents. Now some may argue that cheaper options exist, and that's true. But some of these required travelling either very late in the day (i.e. 8:50 PM departure on JQ) doesn't include a checked bag (i.e. JQ) or requires me to endure a prop plane (Rex).
