QFF Status more important than Points?

I developed a program that does exactly this. Scaled it back after minor setbacks.
Now it's a simple online tool where you plug in basic things like:

Departure,Arrival,Booking Class, Marked Airline
EG: SYD-HKG,D,QF or LHR-DXB,N,BA and so on...

It then spits back instantly how many miles + elite points/credits you would earn on that sector on all oneworld airlines. It gives you a fast indication where you're best off sending your FF business. I'm planning to add support for star alliance in the future.

Can add multiple segments so good for RTW planners too.

That does sound intriguing, trippin.
Would be fascinated to learn more.
Is it accessible?
Perhaps you've reported it in another thread and I'm just uninformed. More than likely. :)

Re: Thanks, AFF

I am a Qantas Nothing/Nobody/Nil/Naught/Not-Even-Worth-Mentioning Bronze frequent flyer member and will happily use my points to fly in premium long haul cabins. My confirmed seat gives me everything that a Super-Dooper Status Gold Frequent Flyer and higher frequent flyers will enjoy. Sadly though, that's where it ends because that Super-Dooper Status Gold Frequent Flyer will still have to walk past my confirmed seat in row 1 on the A330 as they make their way to economy, or better yet if we are on the A380 together, they will have to give right of way to me as I depart my 5A seat ;) You see, points will buy you all that, elite status won't ;)

Well, I feel that both SC and points have their value. Whilst I may be the one walking past your 5A seat to economy, once we are in the terminal I will be the one walking past you again as you head for the J lounge on my way to the First Lounge with great wine, food and a decent shower. :)

Seat 5A is in the F cabin ;) so I will see you at F check-in, the F Lounge, and we'll probably board together. If you are referring to after we have landed, then by all means you can go to the F lounge .... whilst I will be heading straight to my hotel/home thanks to the complimentary limousine for F passengers :D

Well anyway everyone is different and have their preferences, I prefer points over status. I am happy to be a nobody flying F, rather than a somebody flying Y. But I guess I will tone down my advocacy that people (should have no status) and fly confirmed F because that makes my job securing those seats a bit harder in the future. So EVERYONE, please go for STATUS, chase STATUS :) :)

Re: Thanks, AFF

All this thread really proves, AP's strange interjection about jobs and passports and IPC's notwithstanding, is that each of us has our own priorities, needs, goals and preferences when it comes to travelling. There are pros and cons to each "approach" - eg: status chasters vs. strictly award (including premium travel booked using paid for miles, etc)....

there is no "right" answer or way to go here as everyone is different. I'd also say that people can change priorities/methods as circumstances dictacte. As a simple example, once attaining say WP status (and LTG perhaps) in a year, one might move to award tickets of some sort.

At the end of the day I reckon it's whatever works for YOU (ie: each individual person). :)

Re: Thanks, AFF

My final word on this thread, RichardMEL, you ought to stand for Parliament... saying that in the kindest way.
I would certainly vote for you.

Re: Thanks, AFF

Nonsense!!

I just pointed out a observation of the obvious and common sense. The last time a pollie did that... well I don't think it has been documented anywhere! :p

I'll stick to flying thanks.

(however if QF wish to invite me to CL I may change my tune :p :p :p)

* Except if travelling to/from the USA or Asia, or NZ, because no one uses the limos anyway.

Fixed that for you

Re: Thanks, AFF

Cheeky ;) Who says you can't go the USA the long way with EK (using QF points) via DXB though ;)

Totally off topic, but I wouldn't mind EY Apartments for this route SYD-JFK.
What a life

It's a pooch thread - OT is the name of the game! *duck and cover*

why stop at apartments? Just go for the Residence and be done with it :D

Re: Thanks, AFF

Yes, but do we get SC's for that? Or are the points more important? :D :D :D :D

As soon as you crack 1 million you'll be stuffed since you'll never want to go below it again :)
