Apparently some over at FT have not had the soft landing because of the lack of meeting the criteria for the 4 flights and when back to NB, most of those that were in that position dont seem to have shown any interest in posting on QF forum since!

Well, I have a mate that was travelling weekly MEL-BNE-MEL and was WP. Following year, no flights at all (MEL based job) and only dropped to gold.

As always, YMMV.

True, and lets not forget the 4 segments rule has only recently been enforced, I hope that the OP does get a soft landing however if they do have a possibility of grabbing that 4th flight in time I would take it.

No opportunity for a quick qantaslink or shorthaul qantas leg sometime between now and the end of Sept?

I am still of the opinion that the OP will get SG.

mrs ejb was granted PG a couple of years ago and did no flying during the year and went to PS the next year.

Save the flight until your year rolls over and kickstart the new year.

Thanks ejb and all the others for your advice and words of wisdom. Much appreciated. I am not sure that I will have any faith in the good QFF fairy giving me comp anything as I haven't ever been offered double SC by them and about seven years ago I was just a smidgin off requalifying as SG, had a short email discussion with them which they initiated, but I went back to PS.

My situation is that the LHR to SYD flight is the end of a RTW and I don't have any spare flights left to split the journey. I'm also stuck here in the Middle East until I head back to Oz before going on the RTW so I don't think I can squeeze another local qualifying flight. I've got another couple of weeks before making my bookings, so I'll mull it over. I'll probably end up taking the punt (with the PS to fall back on) and put LHR to Syd to my next year's campaign.

One of my frustrations is that the nice people at Qantas don't respond to my emails (the time diferrence here makes it problematic to telephone them). Anyway, thanks again to all.

Which airline are you using for your flight back to Australia. You may want to fly Etihad on the QF codeshare and that counts as an eligible flight. If work is paying for it, a few extra $$ may not be too big an issue.

The OP is already booked on QF2 and that also will be counted as an eligible flight at no extra cost.

Yes, but the OP was looking at postponing his QF2 booking by one day to kickstart the next year SC collection.

No he was considering bringing it forward one day to bring the total flights on QF to 4.

As he does not need the 4 flights the OP is happily leaving the flight at planned.

Thanks MrHyde. I didn't realise that Etihad had QF codeshare; I'll file that away for future possibility. I go Qatar Air from Doha to Dubai and then Dubai-Hong Kong-Cairns (home) by CX J. Not the flashest of routes but I quite like CX and they've been great with OGs and service over the years (much better than QF).
