As a long time QFF, I never thought I would consider moving to another frequent flyer programme. That's until I moved to Hong Kong a few years ago.
Being in Hong Kong with no need to travel to Australia for more than once per year, I struggled to do the 4 sectors of QF/J* flights. Also, CX Marco Polo Club offers a lot of extra benefits for their Diamond members vs QF Platinum members. Benefits such as 2 guest to their 1st class lounge (I travel with 2 people a lot of times), courtesy channel at HKIA are very tempting. Also, I will get status credits on almost all CX/KA flights which is the main carriers I use.
After doing my research and doing the numbers, I came to the conclusion that without some status runs, it will be impossible for me to get to Diamond and the fact that they reset your status credit after attaining the next level will make the journey to Diamond a long one.
Does anyone has thoughts on status runs? and is there a way to deal with the status credit reset issue?
