QP Member travelling AA - Lounge access?

Hi all. I apologise in advance for the following question, however the Qantas webstite, One world website and American Airlines website confuse me with how they describe eligibility for lounge access.

My question is: I am a QC Silver Member. My partner (QFF Bronze) and I are flying from BNE-DFW-MIA and return on QF. I am also doing an AA flight from MIA-JFK return and an AA flight from MIA-CAN Mexico return.

The Qantas website says Qantas Club members with Bronze or Silver status are unable to access oneworld alliance airline lounges with the exception of British Airways (Terrace and Executive Club Lounges only) and American Airlines[SUP]®[/SUP] lounges (Admirals Lounges only) which can be accessed as part of our partner airline agreement.

AA's website and One World don't mention the 'partner airline agreement'.

At what locations are my partner and I eligible to access the AA Admirals Lounges?

so long as flying aa metal on aa code you should be ok everywhere but cancun where i don't believe aa have a lounge.

You imply but don't actually state whether you are a Qantas Club member.

As a Bronze or Silver QFF alone you will not have lounge access.

As a Qantas Club member you will have access to the AA lounges.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, I am a QC Member (my partner isn't though). I thought I mentioned that in my posting. I am a Silver QFF.

As a QP member you with a guest can access the Admiral's Club.Plus get drink coupons-allows you to get a better drink now that standard drinks are complimentary in the AC.

Aside from complimentary basic drinks (including alcohol) and snacks, a QP member with A/C lounge access is entitled to chits which can be redeemed for 'premium' drinks.

Basic "well" drinks (Maybe "Bud", house wine, standard Spirits) are available without the chits.

Note that if you have used your chits, just go back and request more.

I believe that the OP highlights the issue that many, many others have: in trying to abbreviate matters, they confuse the fact that there are TWO 'memberships' that many FF have:

1. their frequent flyer status with Qantas/OneWorld: for which they receive one card - in the OP case, a silver one
2. a Qantas Club card, which is entirely different. There is no such thing as a Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum QP member

As has been stated in another thread, you need to carry both cards when travelling, for some lounges will be open to you on the basis of your Status (i.e. no. 1 card), while others will open the doors with your QP card. Also, combination of both will allow you into different levels of lounges, from experience.

Yep, as long as AA run the lounge.
As an aside I was in Rome this time last month, flying to JFK in Y on AA metal and the FCO lounge (run by A'Italia) was not available to me as a QP NB.
In the US you should be fine.

How strict are the AA check-in and/or lounge staff for guests? I guess it is probably out of the question for myself, Mrs risky and risky-kid1 (6) and risky-kid2 (8) to get in on a QP card (LAX, DEN)?

AAngels are generally very helpful, more so than their QF counterparts from my experience.
If travelling as a family, they might waive the 1 guess per membership

I have, on one occasion, managed to get three guests into the AA lounge in SFO. So it is possible.

AC rules permit for their members the entry of 2 guests or immediate family (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age).

You may get similar privileges especially with them being 6 & 8 - don't expect their access, but the Lounge agents have discretion.

2 guests only applies to those with AC membership, for the Original Poster as a OW customer it is limited to one guest (although as pointed out they can and do use discretion on that)
