QR Avios boost

I suppose I can see how that would make sense but it seemed weird to me, it's not how BA Avios Boost works. Anyway it does now seem to be working. My transfers from Amex are boostable but weirdly the Avios I earned direct with Qatar by staying with ALL aren't (yet).
Annoyingly, the price seems to be terrible value at 1.8 USD/Avios. That's 53% more than the BA boost price! All boost multiples seem to be the same price.
Additionally, if you have several different avios earns/transfers (like I do), it seems that you can't pick and choose which avios earns you boost, like you can with BA boost. You can only select multiples of your total earn in the last 3 months. So that means fewer options and, in particular, a huge minimum purchase if you've a significant number of avios earnt recently.

I found a Boost option in my QR app today.I can apparently boost 5100 points by up to x6 (x6 would cost $871 AUD). Not sure if it is new thing but I have just noticed it.

Is that same as what BA do?
Can you confirm that you transferred points from an australian amex account into QR account and these avios were then boostable? I can't find any information in T&Cs why which specifically excludes amex points from being boostable. but it doesnt work for me.

Yes, I transferred from my amex MR into my QR account a few weeks before I noticed the Boost option in my QR app for the first time. The amount that I was able to boost was the exact amount I had transferred in from Amex.

I didn't boost at the time (don't have a redemption planned just yet).

I still have the Boost option appearing in my app today (the amount available to boost has increased as I have earned more Avios recently). I think it uses the amount you earned in the last 3 months.

When you say it doesn't work, is that option not appearing at all? What do you see?

Not sure about QR, but I've boosted BAEC Avios transferred from Amex before (obviously not an Aussie Amex, but I'm near as sure the same principle applies).

I made an Amex MR transfer in June 23 and have been offered this. I'm not biting at over 2c/Avios

Out of interest, has this offer updated for you in the last few days? Apparently QR Boosts have reduced in cost by about 20% this month.

I'm seeing a 6x offer in my account for about 1.9c/point.

Is anyone boosting QR Avios at 0.0237? I just boosted at BA for 0.0196 so a big difference between the two.

My offer is 6x points at around 2.1c/point. I think the bonus buys can be a better deal, but I think the last great one at 80% was in 2023.

Doesn't sound worthwhile, what you paid for BA is about right at the current exchange rate (with £0.0092 or 0.92p/Avios being the fixed GBP price).

The tradeoff is you get a better price at BA but with Qatar you can boost up to 6x and you can boost points from up to 12 months ago, as opposed to 3x and 1 month ago (in practice it's actually almost 2 months that avios stay boostable on BA, in my experience).

If you're using Amex MR transfers Qatar also has the bonus of instant transfers whereas with BA you have to run the risk of waiting overnight (not 3 days as stated). I don't know if this is the same with other transfer schemes.

True, I remember they ran an offer very recently allowing 4x boost, but it's definitely not regularly (don't recall it ever happening before).

Amex transfers I can't comment on, I've never transferred MR to QR, only direct to BA, but that's not from an Australian Amex obviously (I'm presuming they can only be boosted from the account they're initially transferred into, and not from any they're combined into).

I’m regularly getting 6x QR boost offers, but the average price is 0.238 cents per point. Would I be better waiting for a 80% bonus buy sale?

0.238cpp is an amazing price, I'd take that all day long, is that definitely correct?! $0.00238 per Avios? That's $238 for 100,000 Avios, I've never heard of them being anywhere near that cheap.

I think I have decimal point wrong 😬😳 it should be 2.38 cents per point. So $2,380. Sorry! I ended up transferring from MR to BA then boosting at 3x which gave me a rate of 1.97 cents per point. I then transferred to QR.

Hahaha that does make more sense! Not sure re 80% bonus, I've never purchased from QR before, but I'd compare with BA's subscription pricing too (only downside being you get them over a year, not all at once). Around 2cpp is about ok I think, you can certainly get more value than that in redeeming (for now at least).

0.238cpp would be mind blowing, but it's been a rare and cold day in h3ll when offers like that have come along. IB's 9k per flight back in ~2018 springs to mind (rough calc brings me to EUR 0.00277 based on a flight costing EUR 25, and that was assuming you didn't need the flight).

If our dollar wasn’t so horrible against the pound, the BA boost price would be a very good deal. 180K for Qsuite return to and back from London is still pretty good if do a mix of Amex points and boosts/buys at the right time. The trick is to find those flights!

Very true. Not sure if the USD or EUR prices are any more appealing right now, with the USD specifically taking a bit of a beating recently. Either way, you're spot on, QSuite for 180k return is excellent, where available!
