QR award availability down to 219 days???

Hi all.

I've been researching QR availability from ADL - CDG for a few months now. We are looking to fly around AUG 3rd 2020 in J. I keep reading that the seats are released anywhere from approx. 360 days in advance. I've been using the Qantas Booking system as we need to use QFF point. Whilst I see Y seats from this time, I can only find J seats around 219 days out.

I'm in a bit of a quandary about whether to snap up the less desirable Cathay seats or keep an eye for QR seats when/if they are released.

I've searched from MEL as well, so I think this might be wide spread. We are just trying to avoid the Avianca Lifemiles bookings like we have in the past.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Book the Cathay ticket and swap it to a Qatar ticket if/when it becomes available.

Thanks, do I just pay a change fee if/when I change it? Is that just a call to Qantas?

The ADL-DOH is just being snapped up before the DOH-CDG comes out following day

I think you'll find you'll probably end up paying significantly less in taxes and surcharges with CX, too.

Yeah, I just got 4 x J SYD-DOH-CDG and the surcharges were about $1980 all up (2 adults,2kids).
CX ADL-HKG-CDG would about $1300 for the 4 of us from memory. Worth the extra to try Qsuites (family suites,yay....), in our situation

QR is such a nice experience. I think I'll play the safe card and book the CX. Will keep my eye out for the QR ones if they come up. I've just signed up for expert flyer premium membership and will try to setup an alert.

I’ve been checking exactly the same as the OP and Qatar seats just aren’t being released at 360 days while CX are. Ended up booking CX for next July and a return in August.

Well I got 4 J SYD-DOH 3 August 2020 (booked 8 Aug, added DOH-CDG 9 Aug).
And then another 4J SYD-DOH 10 Aug 2020, booked 15 Aug. (cancelled this booking as I couldnt add the next days release on to CDG due to married segments, so kept my first booking as the go forward one).
Each day had 4J on both SYD-DOH flights as well as ADL-DOH.
So I beg to differ, seats are being released, and I have been monitoring for some time. Mon-Wed departure 4J out of Syd (x2) and ADL. Havent checked PER.
Or maybe I can just see more as I am NB

NB? And I can confirm there has been nothing out of Adelaide for over a month. Same deal. Monitoring closely as well.

You need to log on and book QR at 10am on release.
Book the first leg to DOH, or it'll likely be gone by next day.
Next day call and add the DOH-xx_ leg.
If they "cannot add it" even though you can see it, it'll be a 'married segment'.
In this case you'd need a +24hr stop in DOH before commencing your DOH-xx_ leg the next day.

NB = QF Bronze.
OK, we'll agree to disagree, I've seen them each day ex ADL.
And also SYD obviously as I've booked them.
Theres 2 J SYD-DOH for 15/8/20 sitting there right now (A380, the Qsuites from today are gone), so its not correct to say QR have stopped releasing.

I don’t want ex Syd. As the original question was ex ADL then I can say they aren’t being released. I’ll check again tomorrow but it’s too late for me now.

There's 2 MEL-DOH 15/8/20 sitting there now too, so the 219 day 'widespread' issue is clearly incorrect anyway.

I'm thinking Adelaide must just be 140 days behind Sydney on the internets,hence can only see 219 days for QR.
What browser you guys on, Netscape?

Checked at release time this morning. Nothing in J on Qatar. Took screenshot of first panel.
The J flight on 9th is on CX.
