This is what I'm worried about. I called on Saturday morning and was quoted 2.5 hrs but the call back was about an hour later. Might start calling at 8am just in case, and if I get through a bit early maybe I can stall a bit? Lol. It's tricky.

OK i have two callbacks set up (on two different phones) and will SMS at about 930am (the SMS people have been responding too fast so need to wait until closer to 10am lol).
I'm so nervous! What if the flight doesn't get released! Then we are almost back to square one. 50 mins to go anyway, fingers crossed!

OMG what a stressful morning but....i got it done!!!!! I called at about 820am and 845am, and the first callback was too early by 10mins and they refused to wait on the line, second call back was at 953am so i tried to stall it and it hung up on me! Anyway luckily it classified as "failed" and i got a second call back and it was all fine!
They charged me a service fee and a change fee which i think it wrong, but i will query that later, just glad to get it all done!
Argh no, I had to call Qatar to select seats as there was an error online, and they selected to seats for me but said there is no ticket yet. Just following up Qantas now. I have ticket for SYD to DOH, which was done within 30 mins yesterday.
I got an eticket email from Qantas but upon calling Qatar they confirm the second sector hasn't been ticketed. I wonder how I know if it has or not, there's one eticket number for each person. Should there be two? Or should there be a while new eticket number now that i have added a sector? Logged another callback with Qantas so I can follow up.

What time did you see that availability battymum? I am hoping for flights a few days later next year but cannot see any dates after the 13th August 2020 when logging in today. Then I get screens with earlier dates when clicking on the 13th. I don't know if it's the site not working as it should or it's because the Qatar flights go that quickly. I logged in at 10am today. I assume that Qantas had held the only J awards on Qatar for KarenD so well done to her. It wasn't the date I need anyway but I was trying to work out if it was me, my computer or the site playing up.
I have ticked the flexible dates box now and can see QR909 is still there, thank you for the advice. Will keep checking until my date comes up. As I said earlier it is Oslo we want to end up; Qatar and Emirates have direct flights to Oslo from their UAE hubs. Thai also does from Bangkok but we don't have any points for it.
When i was practicing, the 9pm flight out of Sydney was still there every day for about 3 weeks, so it can work out without calling if your dates are flexible. However, if you are set on a certain day or if QR award seats are still glitchy then i would do what I just did and call the next day. Just need to hope you get your callback at 958am or later. My call at 830am was about right, first callback at 952am and second callback at about 1015am.
We want to fly out of Canberra as does Qatar with 907, however I have never seen an award from Canberra to Doha and presume we have to phone and add that leg too. Far too complicated for a "senior"! Well done with your flights.
Try searching CBR-DOH - I havent searched this option, but as it leaves on the same day I am assuming it would be released at the same time.

Oh that does further complicate things! I wonder if you can add a paid commercial flight to a reward booking? Hopefully someone has posted a process on how to book Canberra to Europe for you to read up on. You might be on the phone with Qantas for quite some time when you do call...it took an age this morning just to add one flight, they must have some complex archaic computer system they need to navigate
